Claypool on the block?

What are wrong with Boykin, Austin and Sims? Let's see what they got, Especially Boykin.

 

Nothing wrong with them at all, but they are all unproven. Boykin looks like he could be a feature in the offence in certain situations, but do you want him as the #2 out there every snap if Claypool is gone and one of DJ or Pickens gets hurt?

Remember this guy was cut by the Ravens who have one of the thinnest WR groups in the league.

Claypool has been a disappointment but he has shown a lot more than the group above in his career.

 

I'm not a fan of trading Claypool. I certainly listen to offers other teams make though. If the Packers offer an arm and a leg aka 2nd or 1st, I obviously pull the trigger. But atm, I have little interest in weakening a position of relative strength.

We've seen what Boykin has for years with the Ravens. It isn't much.

I think this would be 1 year too early. He is still under his rookie contract for 2023, no reason to move him in 2022.

If Austin and lights it up in the 2nd half of this season, then I could easily see the Steelers trading him next year.

 

To play devils advocate that may be the reason to move him. You likely get more capital now as opposed to next year. I personally keep him,but that extra year is probably the only real attraction. Maybe a change of scenery with Aaron Rodgers is what CC needs to blossom. But unless the Packers offer something out of this world, I keep him.

 

GMdot told you he was. Nothing less than a 2nd. Packers are desperate so we might be able to get a 1st.

I agree wholeheartedly. I seen a post someone mentioned we can get a 3 rd pick for Claypool, be lucky to get a 5 or 6 rd pick, imho.

 

If you’re keeping Bush around then there’s no doubt Claypool stays.

 

Their 1st?

Yes, there’s no point in trading him for a 3rd, 5th, or 6th. Packers are desperate so I can see them offering a 1st. They are win now mode with Rodgers and need a WR badly. They don’t have time to draft and develop.

I’m taking a 1st. I like Claypool but he doesn’t make us a contender and we won’t be signing him after his rookie deal since we got Pickens.

 

Packers will not give up a 1st for Claypool.

 

They won't give up their best offensive lineman or cornerback for him, either.

 

I don't want to trade Claypool, but as far as Boykins....He was being thrown to by one of the least accurate Qbs, and the Qb that has thrown the least at his Wrs then just about every Qb.

 

As it stands claypool has the chance to be a very good player. He might never put it together and ends up a very average player. A draft pick is a complete unknown. You might get lucky, but the odds are you end up with a bust. As they say a bird in hand is better than two in the bush.

 

I kind of like to see 6’4 Boykins get a little more playing time.

 

I agree, this is Claypool 3 season. I posted before that you know what you got after players 3 year in the NFL.

3-4 years.

 

The Ravens knew all that and still didn't want him. It's not as if they didn't give him opportunities. He played in 40 games for the Ravens and caught only 33 passes. That can't all be blamed on the quarterback.

 

One of Claypools strengths and functions are his size

Media today likes to start stories more than Reveal stories so I don’t trust the source “NFL Exec”. That can be a former exec who’s now a commentator with connections to GB and their job is to create a story. At the same time they have an agenda. You never know. I’d keep Chase and see how the year plays out. He certainly showed up last game.

 

So here's how I would make the trade with green bay. We send Claypool and Bush. They send us Quay walker.




Only other option is considering a second round. But no way a third.
