Reloading will be hard - Steelers only have 5 picks in next year's draft

Diontae is just as good as DK and DK doesn't have the attitude issues. I don't think Metcalf is the type of player we win with. I think Pickens is better than Metcalf as soon as this season.

We don't have the assets to move into 7 picks in the early rounds. The only way we get close is if we trade back in the first with a top 5 pick and even then we might not get that many. I'd almost rather have the top 5 pick. The only players that could get us an early round pick via trade are Watt, Fitzpatrick, DJ, and potentially Heyward.

you’re also missing that metcalf suffered a broken neck, had limited collegiate production, and a limited route tree. Of course none of that matters.

I disagree. Every year Johnson has an issue. Drops or fumbles. Metcalf is a big body that would’ve fit the Steelers mold to a T. Johnson can run the route tree better but that doesn’t matter if you can’t catch. They drafted him to fill ABs role.

Then we drafted Claypool to get a big body threat like Metcalf. If we originally get Metcalf then we never draft Claypool. Players we passed on for Claypool…

    Trevon Diggs
    Jalen Hurts
    Dobbins

In terms of production, he's just as good. Was better in 2021. Metcalf has started 9 more games than Johnson and has only 500 more yards, Metcalf has more TD's but that's to be expected based on body size. Those are just facts. And we didn't only draft Claypool because he is a big body. We had one in Claypool and still took a big body in Pickens. Teams are always looking for guys with size who can move. We either still draft him or look for a different WR. I don't buy that.

Metcalf is a headcase (we already have enough of those on this team). He's not good enough to ignore that like AB was. We need a culture change and we don't have a strong enough locker room leadership presence to handle any Metcalf's. Old Steelers teams had that, this one will need some work to get there. I'd take a single Hines Ward before I took a WR room full of DK Metcalf.

Just because you have a fantasy trade doesn’t indicate professionals will bow to your wishes

Reloading will be very hard if we draft like we did in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Three drafts 22 picks and we have Watt and Sutton .

4 moved on JU JU Conners Hargrave and Dupree

We need to draft much better.

It looks like we might have a very high pick and we have so many holes I would be open to trade back and try and get a 1st in the low teens and an early second round pick.

Even if we didn’t draft Claypool, we would have bit on another WR. It was written in Ben’s contract that every year we needed to spend a high draft pick on a receiver

    This x 100.

I believe we have 6 picks. 1-4 and two 7's (woohoo)

Like said if we get into the top 5 you trade down and grab extra picks. Unless their is a can't miss left tackle.

The drafting and development has been subpar. Some hits. A lot of misses. Whoever thought that Kendrick Green was going to be a solid center or guard really missed the mark. He should have been released or sent to the PS. He still is on the 53! And Dan Moore has regressed. Just a couple of examples.

It would be a shame if the one time we get to draft in the top 15, we only have 5 picks.

Its hard to fault the team for not being able to keep players for money reasons. When you have a good team, you wont always be able to keep all your players. Hargrave, Dupree, and Conner were all very good picks. JuJu was a pretty good pick.

We do need to draft well, but since we don't have a QB on a massive contract... we will actually be able to afford our players.
