Drafting another quarterback is giving up on Pickett. If a team spends a top-five pick on a quarterback, as the Steelers would be doing in your scenario, that has to be your guy.

You don't know that Pickett wouldn't have been a first-rounder, but I'm sure somebody told you as much, so you just regurgitate it without thought.

Height is absolutely still relevant in the NFL. Just because some players have overcome that limitation doesn't mean it isn't a factor.

Clearly, you missed the people questioning Young's arm. For someone who relies so heavily on the opinions of others, you should be more diligent in seeking them out.

I’m sure you are right that unless Pickett is either terrible this year which is unlikely or has a major injury which hopefully never happens we are going to roll with him for a couple years at least. I think just because how epically bad this team could be (1st or 2nd overall pick territory) it got me pondering.

I like Johnson as well but honestly at LT the Duncan kid from Maryland might be the best. And you know how Mikey feels about Maryland.

Thank you. I'm willing to bet the Bills message board looked a lot like this one after Allen's first year. Good thing front offices don't listen to emotional fanatics.

I believe he is referencing the fact that Josh Allen was not good his 1st year but the Bills stuck with them. Now you see how that worked out. I believe your point was that he still makes some bad plays even this year. No?

Are you kidding me right now? My point is that the kid didn’t fold against one of the best defenses in the NFL. There were times when he was completing passes at will and if his receivers hadn’t dropped so many passes that 65% completion percentage would have been 75 or 80%. His OC didn’t help him, the running game provided no support, the defense couldn’t stop anybody, and he fought to the end (literally!). What more did you expect from Pickett? For him to go out there and out duel Josh Allen in a hostile environment?! He bogged down in the red zone and that was disappointing but much of that was out of his control. No running game and piss poor play calling contributed to that

He outdueled Josh Allen? The Steelers got beat 120-3.

Im not saying you are wrong about him playing ok and that the WRs drop balls we have no run game and the OC hinders him. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves he didn’t put up a single TD.

Re-read what I wrote. I did not say he outdueled Allen. I asked whether or not that was your expectation of him. His individual outing was above the line for a rookie making his first start in one of the most hostile environments in the league against the Super Bowl favorite. The team’s overall performance sucked and he bears, and took, some of the responsibility.

He played a decent game certainly was one of the better players for us yesterday. I see what you said now.

I misread his post. He said no moment is too big for him and I questioned that since we got beat 38-3. Then I thought he said he out-dueled Allen but he was asking me if I expected him to out-duel Allen not that he did.

Agree with Aditi on this one. Only thing that would have made me happier about Picketts debut would have been TD’s and a victory. But as far as his game goes, looks good. It’s possible the Steelers won’t have to go 20 years in between franchise QB’s again.

Come on now, Pickett may have scored 2 TDs in his first game, but he’ll NEVER be half the running back that LJ is.

I see people mostly questioning his size in terms of his weight. Not his height. Again it's been proven you can be any height and still be successful. He's good enough talent wise to overcome it. If he was an average talent like baker was at that height then it'd be a concern but even then he STILL was picked first overall. I don't see this majority consensus of people questioning Youngs arm. There is no way he'd be considered by many the most likely #1 pick if arm was a concern. That's part of why the guy yiu love so much currently starting for the steelers wasn't considered a first pick. Having arm concerns is not first overall pick material.

I do know he wouldn't because he's not better than anyone I just named. They are both for sure top ten picks AT WORST.

Pickett's age means nothing, QBs play into their late thirties these days.

I doubt Van Dyke will be a first round pick, he got benched this season.

We will see how good he is at 190lbs, and taking NFL hits.

His age has a lot to do with it if he is not an elite QB...

Again, where I have them ranked. Ranking does not equate towards draft position.

Wait we’re already thinking about taking another QB? Look at the QBs that have came out of Alabama and Ohio State. Name one that’s a top 5 or even top 10 QB right now.

No, seen every QB since '69. I am not as patient as my age to wait as long as when younger. Additionally, players aren't the only one's needing change. JMO
