he might be hurt, in the head.
PTSD - he ran behind an AL line, in a perfect scheme. that ain't what he got here

I remember Bubby Brister well. Pickett is no Bubby Brister. Brister had a cannon for an arm but he had games where he couldn’t hit the side of a barn. Pickett is much more accurate and has much more football intelligence than Brister ever had. Brister was just dumb.

he gave no assessment on his arm strength. Just said lack of when it’s been praised by almost everyone. Levis does have the strongest arm but that doesn’t mean Bruce young doesn’t have an arm.

I mean we’ve seen plenty of teams in college regress losing a guy who was drafted to the nfl. Never said he wasn’t good in college. I’m talking about the nfl. Where he’s in positions now to outgun guys like he played yesterday. I don’t think he’s capable of that in the long haul. I don’t think he’ll ever been an mvp level top tier guy. I see middle of the pack. He’s going to be a dak Prescott level guy. Idk what you’re seeing in him. I really don’t see anything that stands out. He looks to be good. Not great. I feel in this current era of football with all these guys at qb playing how they’re playing you need a guy that can go toe to toe with one of them.

I gotta tell you, that is a god-awful analysis.
He played in 1 pre-season game with 'some' starters and looked pretty decent.
He has now started 1 regular season game with 'some' starters and looked pretty decent.
It is incredibly hard not to acknowledge that a LOT of rookies in that same scenario would have crumbled.
By your standards, Peyton Manning would not have had a career that changed NFL offenses the way he did. He threw 28 picks that first season! On a 3-13 team.
Now I cannot anoint Pickett as 'the next Peyton Manning' but for goodness sakes.. 1 game? really?
Can we at least kind of watch where this goes?
Pittsburgh has to at least try to do what Indy did, they felt like they had their guys so they got weapons for him and found guys that could block.
We have none of that basically.. (yes, the O-line is doing a little better, but wow.. they have a ways to go)

Who is saying he is going to be drafted over anyone in the upcoming class?! All I did was rank them. Dunno what you are talking about.

Just reviewed the Pickett tape with other coaches.

So far what I’ve seen is his interceptions are usually from high balls. He’s making mistakes like a rookie usually would.

however he’s been moving the ball in tight windows. Very accurate. Pocket collapses pretty quick on some plays and he still delivers. The skitty feet throws he needs to learn to just throw it away, he’s not prime Ben.

long balls are so so. Josh Allen bombs his throws with accuracy and speed compared to Pickett who kinda floats them, not terrible though.

I like what I see but so far he’s not a qb who can withstand a bad O line like prime Ben could but he’s also way better than what his stats show.

This team is a dumpster fire but I have confidence so far that Kenny can succeed if we build around him. Can’t do that with mason or Mitch

I’ll tell you what I’m seeing. He’s a leader. He’s accurate. He’s got moxie. He’s mobile. He’s got an above average arm, he’s a good distributor of the football. He stands tall in the pocket. He’s a great anticipatory thrower and throws his receivers open. He has command of the huddle. Big moments aren’t too big for him. These are all qualities of a very good to great NFL quarterback. Do you see none of this??? Do you realize on the Hail Mary in the Jets game the ball went 67 yards in the air and it didn’t seem as if he exerted himself to get it there? We need to give him some time. A lot of very good quarterbacks had some struggles in their rookie seasons. To already be talking about drafting one of the top guys in 2023 (who all have questions themselves) is ridiculous IMO. We have something special in Pickett so we need to develop that and surround him with a competent supporting cast, including coaches!

Why would someone draft a qb ranked lower before one ranked higher?

I was saying this before the game. I've had this stance since he was drafted.

Big moments are not too big for him? He just got beat 38-3 in his first NFL start WTF

I’m not saying it was mainly his fault but come on the kid hasn’t done anything yet. Which is fine he has played a game and a half.

Again....some people grade a Qb by Arm strength, and How fast they can run, and don't pay attention to the things that really matter.....they just like the icing on the cake not the cake.....then whenever their beloved athlete doesn't pan out....they say....coaches fault....no weapons, and so forth. Only a couple ways Pickett shouldn't get at least 3 years to show what He's got......A terrible injury, or He never shows any improvement.

Some people just like moving the goalposts to fit their agenda. Not too surprising but disappointing all the same.

Why bother comparing when we have a useless OC, a garbage Oline, and a braindead coach, who'll make him look average.

Thats true no matter wether it’s Pickett or Bryce Young or whomever with this coaching staff none of them would pan out anyway.

Lamar is a great athlete but still don’t think he is an accurate enough passer to ever make a Super Bowl or possibly even AFC Championship game.
