I’m sure somehow this is all Ben’s fault.

My high school team put 71 points on Saturday so I would not want to see Tomlin in charge of that team

I salute Pickett. This poor guy has been dealt a bad hand. The defense is awful and the WRs minus Pickens....are bush league. Terrible. Gentry and Muth are good at TE.

Ben had JEROME BETTIS, HINES WARD, PLAXICO BURRESS, TROY POLAMALU, JAMES FARRIOR, DUCE STALEY, CASEY HAMPTON, WILLIE PARKER, ALAN FANECA.

    Pickett doesn't have that.

They aren't just missing Watt. Five of the top six defensive backs were either out or playing through injuries today. The one healthy defensive back was knocked out of the game with a concussion and they lost Ogunjobi to a back injury. Of course, Allen torched them. I'm surprised it was competitive for a quarter.

He also has a worse offensive line. He didn't have many clean pockets today. How many times did Canada have him rolling right into a free pass rusher?

Or simply put: Ben had Cowher, Pickett has Tomlin.

You can't use My line. LoL
I do think it's funny that everything that was blamed on Him last year is worse, and most won't say....yep I was wrong.
Here is a list of what was Ben's fault last year by a bunch on here.

    1. Dj .... He drops them because Ben only throws short ,and He knows it. LoL ....3 Qbs later more drops than ever.
    2. Claypool He can't stand up, or adjust 2 a throw because Ben doesn't throw it right. LoL....3 Qbs later same ole same ole.
    4. Matt Canada (this one is My favorite)....You don't know anything STD.....Canada can't run His full genius offense because of Ben.....just wait.....You will see.
    5. Defense.....it's always tired because of Ben. LoL.
Funny He was shot last year....He was done....I agree, but Man.....everything that was put at His feet looks even worse now that He's not on the team. LoL.
Now those same people are telling Me they know how to fix this mess. LoL

I'm a Tomlin critic, but let's see how he handles a losing season. Cowher had 3....98, 99 and 03.

I said all last season and all offseason that we would all miss Ben more than we thought we would. Turns out I was right.

Step one should be coaching changes. Canada needs to go now. There is no reason to waste any more time on that offense.

Bench Harris for Warren. Maybe the former just needs to get healthy, but he's not helping them right now.

Bench Bush. He was better early in the season, but he has regressed again.

Roethlisberger would not have made a difference today. The defense is just a battered mess. Even some of the starters who are playing are banged up. Fitzpatrick looked terrible today, though the knee certainly isn't an excuse for allowing Gilbert to rip an interception out of his arms and turn it into a touchdown.

I agree with you. The Steelers still get blown out today. But they would likely be 4-1 instead of 1-4.

Maybe they should take this approach...

Health on D would help. I know You , and others know, but this is not even close to the D We started the season with, but You are correct....We must find some answers.

That's a little optimistic. Hell, if Watt was playing they could be 3-2 right now. This was a team that was built to rely on its defense, and that unit is utterly broken right now.

How so? Offense would have been better vs the Bengals and that game would have been a blow out. With Ben we beat the Pats. Browns game would have admittedly been a tossup even with Ben. Steelers beat the Jets if Ben plays. No doubt we lose to the Bills. Best case 4-1 / Worst case 3-2.

I agree with that. This defense goes from elite to below average when Watt is not on the field. Quarterback (Trubisky) play has also been awful. TBH I think this team had a chance of being 3-2 had Pickett started all 5 games.

So you don't think Ben would have outplayed Trubisky the first 4 games?

I had a pretty intense discussion with JR from the jrsportsbrief show on cbs radio last season about this. I was saying that yes, Ben has slowed down but the problem is way bigger than him and I still thought Ben had some ball left in him.

I placed the blame squarely on Matt Canada and obviously Tomlin as an extension for letting him continue to call a high school style offense. Jr talked a bunch of crap and laughed at the idea that I would even question Tomlin...but here we are - Ben's gone and that offense doesn't look better. it actually looks worse sorry to say. I'm not necessarily saying it wasn't time for Ben to move on, but I think we left a lot on the table.

I've been very patient with Tomlin, however I will say this. If Tomlin doesn't wake the hell up and get rid of his ego fire this OC or at least take away his play calling duties then he needs to go as well. Everyone's talking about how bad the defense is but this offense could not even score a touchdown once Buffalo let up and was basically playing powder soft defense because they were blowing us out. Canada is absolutely clueless has no idea how to scheme up an offense to take advantage of weaknesses and tendencies. He's one of the worst OCs I've ever seen. If Tomlin can't see that and continues to let him run this offense then Tomlin needs run out of Pittsburgh.

You don't want this clown developing your young , future QB. What did JuJu say... something about he learned more in the time he's been with KC than the entire time here about how to break down a D and analyze plays in the field. Yeah, I don't think that was just sour grapes I mean why would he be pissed he's on her way better team. You need to think about that Tomlin you have a great QB and young Pickett get that boy some real mentors to learn off of.
