He is not to thuggish for the Raiders...he is tired of losing. He just needs out of Oak...and into a 3-4. They benched him when he was one of their leading tacklers......They want him to be something he is not....The fans are mad he is not Joey Porter...they want him to be a vocal leader on the field..and be all fired up....and he just isn't that guy.

I have been on top of this since training camp.... He wants out of Oakland....Oakland wants out from under his contract.

If he was not having problems there...he would not be available......You never read how the guy who is the best player on the field, loved in the locker room, and model citizen has been released from the team for unknown reasons.

Its the same risk reward we have been talking about.

Will cost $303,125 for the last 5 games of the year.....Thats cheap rent to kick his tires. If he looks like he will work out...you restructure and don't have to look at ILB in the draft...You can get DB and Pass rush help........If he doesn't...you cut him..it cost you about league min....and you make ILB a priority in the draft again.

EDIT: It also appears charged against him have been dropped. So his off field problems appear to be over and he should no longer be up for possible suspension from Goodell

if he hit the waivers and the steleers don't put a claim on him , they will do another mistake like the did with burfict , we have silvester and b . johnson that are expandeable , foote is free agent and we miss a thumper in the middle of the field . it's a no brain

I'm not one to jump on the sign this guy thread, but this really does seem like a no brainer. I think he fits into this system quite well. But, I'm not sure I would take Foote off the field (even though I KNOW McClain is the better talent). Foote has been playing WAY above where I thought he could this year.

The only reason to bring in this guy NOW is for depth and to see how he could help you next year as Foote will be UFA.

Yep, I doubt it was sarcasm for the same reason.

This is why I was beating the drum to trade for him....his salary is cheap this year as it was all in bonus money the Raiders already paid......You kick the tires...and decide if you bring Foote back for one more year based on how he finishes.

Rolando is the old type of thumping MLB...We passed on Hightower for the same reason...although Belicheat has taken both Hightower and Spikes and they both seem to be making plays so I don't know if the the death of the run thumping LB's is premature or not??? ... but Belicheat obviously knows a thing or two about football though?

I think you need the ILB of the future though...basically a guy with Troy P.'s skill set but at the ILB position... they got to be able to cover receivers of all types, not just stop the run.

I don't think that is why we passed on Hightower. Had DeCastro NOT been available at our draft spot, I think that is who we would have taken in the draft. So to me the difference between him being a Steeler and not is one word....DeCastro.

    This I completely agree with.

The Raiders have actually not even released him. He WANTS them to but they haven't done it. What are the odds they are going to?

The Raiders front office might just be on the phones shopping him around trying to get something for him.

Well no chance At Teo, he is going to go in 1st 5 picks at least. Minter is good. But, the guy I really want is Michael Matui from Penn State, of course your not going to take him in the 1st round. But, with his knee injury history he should fall pretty far. But, Matui, has more heart and soul than any football player than I have ever seen play. But, he is talented too. I think he would be a great player for the Steelers to have, because I think we really lack a good leader for the team. Like a Joey Porter, Hines ward, Jerome Bettis type that we have had in the past.

I agree Spence could have been that guy....its a real shame he had to get hurt the way he did. His injury was pretty devastating. Sadly I'm not sure what his odds to return to form really will ever be....

He was borne to play in Pitt's very own version of the 3/4. Regrettably, that's prolly why it won't happen now.

    No brain'r, Indeed Sir, indeed.

Actually cost them about $500,000 more to cut him than to keep him.

    Honestly...I just don't see Te'o as a top 5 pick....not saying he won't be...but I don't see it.....He is a MEGA FOOTBALL player...but not a MEGA ATHLETIC FOOTBALL player... I have had him top 15....maybe top 10.

I like Minter - reminds me of Farrior or Vilma in their early days. Has a great nose for the ball and plays with fire.

I would trade anything other then Ben and brown to move up to get t'eo. This dude is going to be special from the time he shows up. Throw in his character and to me he is the best pick in the draft.

McClain suspended two games by Raiders. Per ESPN. Still with Raiders.
