Fingertip? He had both hands on the ball. Ask him and I’m sure he’ll tell you he should have caught that one. Still an ill advised throw and one Pickett will learn from.

IDC how it played out....here's what I saw....They went from a QB who lacked confidence, couldn't make the quick decision, a lot of times looked awkward with his throws, and was consistently throwing off of his back foot....to a QB who was confident, poised, made quick decisions, and played with guts and tenacity.
I'll take the mistakes as part of growing pains. Pickett will clean it.

TBH I'll live with it. First ball wasn't the best, but Claypool HAS to win that vs a 5'10'' safety. Second one was a bad decision. Should've thrown it away, but that's what you live with when you play a rookie. He will learn in time. Third was a last second hail mary. Not worried about that one at all. It was a pretty solid start. He made more plays in a half than Trubisky has all season. It was only a matter of time. Mitch didn't play well enough to keep the job.

Would have been a good catch, but catchable nonetheless.

The argument could be made that there was never going to be a lead to protect if they stuck with Trubisky.

I’m grinning ear to ear. People can make all the lame jokes about Pickett they want.

Got what I wanted, Pickett in.

Of course, I saw a lame quote by a reporter that Tomlin isn’t committing to Pickett. Whatever. Hope Rooney overrules the fool if he does that.

    Fwiw

    Catch the ball

Receivers better be ready to make contested catches from now on instead of watching Mitch throw it out of bounds or taking a sack

I’m ecstatic with what I saw today

Evaluating Pickett based on one half is silly. He did some good things and some bad things. The team lost though, and he was part of it. The 2nd pick was obviously a poor decision.

I'm personally glad he's playing. I thought Tomlin would wait much longer to pull the trigger. If Mitch starts again without Pickett being injured I will not be happy. I don't care if Pickett throws 5 picks. Let him continue to play

I'm not anointing Kenny Pickett as "the savior" or "the next one". My take is that he deserves a chance because Trubisky has not been good. He's barely been serviceable. The offensive line and the rest of the offense has to share some of the blame to be sure. But I've maintained since this roster was assembled that the absolute best they could hope for was 9-8. Turns out they are actually a pretty bad football team. What is the harm in seeing what they have with Pickett? What's the difference if they lose 9 games or 12?

I'm not y'all. I had hopes for Mitch. He was brought in to start before they drafted Pickett.

I was happy they drafted him though.

After watching Mitch you mean to tell me you liked his play? I didn't. He is stiff, not poised at all and afraid of making a mistake.

Pickett came in and was the polar opposite and created a spark. And played with confidence and poise. That throw to Muth when he knew he was going to get creamed was a thing of beauty.

Also in his post game presser I believe he said he was trying to throw it away when it popped off of Muth's hands and was picked stating he threw it to low but still took the blame.

The defense as the game goes on turns into garbage. The jets marched down the field for the final TD with ease. Was that Picketts fault? They have been horrible in the 4th quarter.

Time to buckle up because its going to be a bumpy ride.

But even though he made a couple of ill advised throws (that could have been caught) he didn’t look like the stage was too big for him. He’ll learn from his mistakes and grow as a professional. He came into a game at halftime after being given no reps (other than mental) with the ones. I’m looking forward to seeing what he looks like with a full week to prepare.

More like, I didn't like the pick and I want so badly to be right, that Im going to create a post talking smack. It's posts like this that come back to bite you in the ass just as badly as those thinking that Pickett was the savior after a few pre season series.

I didn't like the pick for a different reason but I sure the hell would not want to be right at the Steelers sucking expense. I'd rather members telling me how wrong I was for not liking Pickett.

I grade Kenny a B- in his debut. I think on the first pick he could've done a better job of throwing Claypool open, but Claypool should've caught it; the second one was really just a terrible pass, but Muth still could've caught it; the third pick was a Hail Mary where he out-threw his recievers.

But otherwise he was accurate and moved the team. He's a rookie and he'll learn from his mistakes. The best QBs to play the game weren't perfect their rookie years so to think Kenny will be perfect is unreasonable expectations.

Unlike Mitch, he actually moved the chains whether in the air or on his feet. He connected with Pickens a few times even took Pickens to the side for QB/WR coaching thus displaying his leadership. His second TD really showed the fB player in him and he couldn't have been denied heading into the endzone.

Kenny ultimately gets some blame for today's loss, but he's not the first person I'd blame.
