... and I don't see anyway he's playing this Sunday. He was throwing verrrry tentatively, I'm sure some of that is by design but I didn't like his body language at all.

(no I'm not playing doctor, looking at you Glenn :glare:)

Was that from today or taped on Monday? Maybe they dont want the Ravens to plan for Ben.

Do the Raven's defenders hit harder than the Chargers defenders do? Do they hit harder than the Dallas defenders do? I guess I thought if they made it to this level, they are probably pretty good. Collectively, the pass rush may be better with the Ravens than those other teams, but do any one of those players hit harder than any one from the other teams? The risk is the same risk, regardless of who we are playing. Why convince ourselves we can't win, simply because we are playing the Ravens? The Steelers could do themselves a favor and just submit, not even show up. If Ben can play, then he will play. If not, it is because of his health, not because of the opponent.

It's not a matter of one team hitting harder than another, it's a matter of an extra weeks worth of recovery. I'm iffy about him playing as well. I'd love to beat the Ravens. I'd love even more getting to watch Ben play for a few more years.

Local news here in Pa reported that Ben is on record saying he wants to play this Sunday. People can read into that however they would like. I personally think that any professional player would want to play every Sunday, so Ben saying that doesn't mean too much to me. But if he's hurt and another weeks rest will help him, than sit him. If he says he's good to go and doctors sign off on it, than let him play. As much as I want to win and be in the playoffs and see us beat the ravens, Ben's health is more important than any win. And if there is even a question about the rib puncturing his aorta still, than there is no way he should play.

From what I saw on TV of him throwing --- Sit Him --- and get another week to recover and heel and gradually start throwing harder. Makes no sense to rush him as he is way to valuable as we can all see. Tomlin should not listen to Ben and even if he is cleared to play, he should sit him, too much risk to rush him this week.

However if we want to get to the playoffs this year he would have to start the following week and take the risk and then if he re-injures it won't matter about the playoffs anyway, and he could rest it the off season. ;)

I don't care about the future. Play Ben no matter what. If Ben wants to play, play him. If he plays and his rib pops, well thats his problem and we could shut him down for the season and call the season over. WE need this win Sunday at all costs. I'm Bens biggest fan but enough with the injuries already. Btw, Ben is only soft tossing balls, don't expect to see him beaming bombs downfield in practice.sheeesh.

:this!: The doctors on this board keep saying 1 more week, that won't be much of a difference maker if it's that serious. He clears... He plays!

Of course he wasn't beaming bombs, he was having enough trouble just soft tossing.

Come on Fan's, we've seen Ben do this before, (act as if he's hurt more than he really is), Ben will play Sunday starting off with a 60 yard bomb to Wallace or Brown!

Agreed, freak. We could literally be talking about a life and death situation here if Ben is not 100% healed of this rib injury. The fact that it was dislocated makes him more susceptible, particularly if it's not completely healed. Ben's got a wife and kid to think about now and win or lose, he should not be playing this weekend unless he is 100%

Also, it's not like Adams has been lights out in pass protection, but now we have Beachum in there starting at Tackle. That in itself has me worried about Ben returning on Sunday, let alone it's in a hostile environment against a hated rival. Another week off would allow Ben to get closer to 100% and also give our OL time to heal so he is playing behind a healthier line when he does come back.

10-6 makes the playoffs. I'd love to go to 7-5 but it's not the end of the world if we are at 6-6 and Ben is back to 100% for the stretch run. We can beat SD, Dallas, Cincy, and Cleveland with Ben.

I'll have to track down the quote, but it was said that the rib injury is healed and there is no risk to him playing. The only thing that *could* hold him out is the soreness in the shoulder.

That being said, this is classic Ben. Although at this point, I don't think any DC in the league is going to be stupid enough to NOT plan for him to start and be effective.

I keep telling you people that Ben isnt going to play this week, and I dont expect he will play in 3 or 4 weeks either, I dont really expect him to play again this season, heres what was reported on ESPN yesterday about his condition...

Citing a source with knowledge of Ben Roethlisberger's injuries, ESPN's Bob Holtzman reported Wednesday that "right now there's less than a 50 percent chance" of Big Ben playing in Week 13.

Per Holtzman, Roethlisberger's dislocated rib remains his "biggest issue," and Big Ben isn't convinced that he can throw the football effectively enough to play against the Ravens. The Steelers are still allowing Roethlisberger to "push himself" through practice, and see how his body responds. Holtzman notes that both of Big Ben's injuries -- his sprained shoulder and rib dislocation -- have a "very high risk of reinjury" should Roethlisberger return too soon.

They can hang all the padding they want on him, but when a 300 pounder comes down on top of him none of that crap will protect him: Is trying to win a game more inportant than exposing him to a career ending injury, I wonder what kind of a doctor would sign off on that scenario???
