Devin Bush had 2 tackles and 3 assists. Is that getting enough out of him? I didn't watch him play much so I'm not sure how often he was in there. Was he a factor or not? Hopefully someone that watches the nuances of the game can let me know how he did

Being that the Safety, had an INT, Pick 6, recorded 14 tackles (yes 14 tackles) and blocked the game winning PAT attempt.

I would think he could do some more action, they were putting Spillane in a good bit too.

But, he at least didn't stand out and stink which is good.

Overall the run defense held up which is what we need. He did a good job on a run to the outside. He got a pressure on a blitz. Inside runs he is suspect IMO. Ideally, he would show enough to get more plays and sprinkle in a splash play or two. Until then this is a weakness of the D, along with edge depth.

I was shocked cinci didn’t only run up the gut. They came out passing and kept passing which played into Steelers strength.

bush did better than I was expecting but cinci kept passing.

Totally agree, maybe the 4 INT's got to their head?

I am not a fan of Bush, but I thought he at least looked like an NFL linebacker... maybe not a game changer, but at least like he belonged on the field

From what I saw on TV yesterday during the game broadcast Bush actually looked pretty good. He was around the ball a lot and seemed decisive in his decision making.

    :hmm:

    Umm..

Devin's performance yesterday was his best since Week 2 against Denver back in 2020. Granted... it sadly has been that long but if he is to regain his rookie season form, playing the way he did against an arch rival is a good first step.

I agree wholeheartedly that he has failed thus far to live up to his top 10 draft status. Yesterday's results though did encourage me a bit; more so than I ever was during a 2021 season where he was crippled from both a mental and emotional standpoint after rehab on the knee.

He basically didn’t stand out in any glaring way. Pretty sad that a top 10 pick and him just not screwing up is the best thing I can hope for out of him.

On the fourth down play that Mixon breaks through and goes over 20 yards, Bush actually did what he was supposed to. He see's a man releasing into the flat angling towards the sideline and he follows in coverage. Jack doesn't see him do it or it fails to register that he no longer has help. He rushes towards the line and runs straight into the block and Mixon is off. Communication is still poor.

Its funny because I agree with both of these takes. I did feel that it was his best game since 2020, but at the same time it sucks that him not being a complete liability is the best that we can hope for (at this time). I hope he continues to grow and becomes that top ten pick that we all hoped for. I have my doubts on this, but yesterday was at least a step in the right direction (I hope).

He played poorly yesterday against the run

In the first quarter alone he was responsible for giving up 30 plus yards rushing up the middle

Devin Bush officially reached the last straw with me. That one play late in the game he just stood by and watched instead of at least trying to make the play was inexcusable.

O'Daniel is an outside linebacker. Lee plays inside. I'm not sure about Iyiegbuniwe. This may be about the utter lack of production from any outside linebacker other than Highsmith. Jones and Reed have both sucked.

That safety can't make those plays unless the players in front do their jobs

JPP just signed with someone from Division.
Not a Bush replacement but may have been nice for the Defense.

Edmunds sucks. On his best days, he is mediocre. On his worst, like last night, he is a cheat code for the opposing offense. He wasn't just beaten badly for two touchdowns. Chubb also left him lunging at air on a jump cut when Edmunds had been in a great position to make a stop. He is a liability in the passing game and does very little to help against the run. They should bench him, but the replacements are even worse with Kazee injured and suspended.

Not really. He has at least made a few plays. Jones and Reed are useless.

First round picks should be game changers and Bush is but in the wrong way. He has looking a little better this year than last but that improvement has raised him to average or not even.

When he made the statement about not having to prove anything , I thought oh oh another one full of himself and loosing touch with reality.

He will have to improve a huge amount to not consider him a bust.
