Down by 9 with less that 5 minutes left and you punt on 4th and 5?!?!

    Exactly.

Time and scores are of essence, and the Steelers go three-and-out twice. Brilliant.

Yeah that was chicken shist. The Pats ran for the last 6 minutes last week, but somehow we think we can stop Chubbs and Hunt.

This version of the Steelers is the only one I've watched where if we are down more than 7 points and under 5 minutes in the game I think it's over.

Can't stop the run + can't stop going 3 and out = concede halfway through the 4th quarter when down 10.

Maybe that it was more important to protect the stats of his defense that trying to have a chance to win...a similar situation also happened last year against the raiders(punt on 4th down and 1 with less that 8-9 minutes down by 9 points)

With this offense they should just punt on first down

I think we all know it would've either been a 3 yard pass or a 2 yard run.

4th and 5 and you think THIS offense would pick it up?? If he'd gone for it, all y'all would be calling for Tomlin's head and not just his job!

If we punt and get a stop/turnover we still have a chance to win. It’s a slim chance, but a chance nonetheless. Go for the first and fail we give the browns the ball with goal to go putting them up by 3 scores which leaves us absolutely no chance to win. Hmmmm that’s a tough decision

Remind me about our success on third downs last night

id argue chances of converting on 4th and 5 were higher than recovering an onside kick and driving for a score. But this is fully subjective

Punting on 4th and 5, though, is the definition of living in your fears.

more like it’s the smart play. Try not to forget that onside kick was actually recoverable, but pickens was offsides. Rookies make rookie mistakes

it’s subjective, but smart play is to control your destiny by passing and catching.

On an On side kick, the hope is an egg shaped ball takes a random bounce in such a way that it can be recovered - that’s betting on complete randomness and unpredictability of a bouncing football.

    But, it's all Tomlin's fault!

    It's really simple. IMO.
No matter what....right now it shows who He has more faith in. The same as I do . The D.
Trubisky has less yards than 17 Qbs, and less Tds than 8 Qbs, and He has played one more game than anyone else. LoL. That is horrible ....however You slice it.

And there’s no randomness and unpredictability of basically every snap of the football. Snaps are never fumbled, passes are never tipped, batted down , linemen never miss their blocks…
