I understand that the organization will do everything in its power to get Ben back Sunday. But if they need to push this AT ALL, my opinion is he should not play until SD in 2 weeks. There is almost no hope Pittsburgh will win the Division. In fact, I will actually call it zero chance. SO what do you do? Another week would certainly get Ben closer to where all of us would want him to be. Less risk of getting his brains beat in at Baltimore next Sunday. Effectively they wd be sacrificing the short term with the hopes of having a longer term. I think this team would get smoked by either Denver or NE most likely so it might not matter, but if the goal is to make the playoffs we have at least a better chance with a QB closer to full stegth than if he limps along the rest of the way. I mean, put forth your best effort with CHuck batch and the fumblerific RB's in BALT of course, but do not sacrifice the QB to try to win a game that ultimately will not matter for the AFC North crown.

    Concede nothing.

We couldn't need this game against Baltimore any more than we do, another division win and one against Balt would keep us alive not only in the race for first but would also mean we're keeping pace with the bungles.

I don't want to force Ben either. I think we'd be better off finding a way to win without him.

That said I don't like our odds either.

    But we've got to try.

i think the division has already been lost, but they cant afford to just give away a game and thats what they will be doing if a healthy Ben is standing on the sidlelines just so he cant get hurt again. they have been caught by the Bengals and the Dolphins are only 1 game back. they need every game now. thats the position they put themselves in with that debacle yesterday. if they would have won that game than they probably could have sat Ben 1 more week just to make sure hes 100%, but 8 turnovers later and that option is gone.

if we have learned anything from watching Ben it is that he will play no matter how beat up he is if he can. there is no way he would not play if cleared.

Your franchise QB starts if the doctors clear him. I'm not sure why this is so difficult to understand.

Maybe the OP is a doctor and he has examined Big Ben and the MRI and has come to the conclusion that he's not ready.
    That has to be it.

There's no "pushing" at all. If he's medically cleared to play, he plays.

Lol! Still can't figure why some fans think they know better than a Doctor who has examined the patient?

Concede nothing...at worst, the Steelers want to be the 5th seed, not the 6th seed. I really think Houston, at home, is going to be a tough out. If the Steelers advance, they will likely go there anyway. At least with the 5th seed there's a chance they won't go to Houston until the Championship game.

Had to turn the channel from MNF, can't stand to hear them talk about the Rat's 4th down play. Or see any replay from Ohio.

I'm not sure we are going to see Ben this week.

I think we would of heard something more on his condition by now. Has he even tried to throw? Could he start without practicing or throwing this week? I don't think that would be a good idea without practicing some and trying out that shoulder first at least in some light practice. :hmmm:

I hear ya, BUT... He was probably "medically" cleared to play against San Fran last year, too, right?
Not sure who "medically" cleared Byron, to keep playing against Balt... But, I question their judgement...
Until Batch, showed me how much rust he had, I would have been Happy to see him take Byron`s place, when he was clutching his ribs after every throw...
Hell... I still would make that call...
I hear where the o.p. is coming from...
Just because he CAN play, doesn`t mean he SHOULD!!
Yes, we NEED this game, but I`m not so sure Ben can win it for us, IF his injury is as serious as first reported...
Then again, I was wondering why his arm wasn`t still in a sling, yesterday.
I don`t know how severe the injury is...
Sounded life threatening 2 weeks ago...
    Now, it`ll be ok?!?!

I Dunno... I just wish we could win without him... after all, we do still have a ton of "talent", right???? And "good playcalling", right???
I still believe that`s true, and yesterday was just a fluke.
Ain`t too often that you put 4 runningbacks on the field , and they ALL fumble the ball at least once...
Ithink we still have a good team.
I think our odds of winning increase exponentially, IF Ben is the qb...
But I don`t think there is any reason the other 10 guys on Offense, shouldn`t be able to get the job done, without him,...
IF THEY JUST HANG ONTO THE DAMN BALL!!!!!!!!!!!
    K`, done venting, now. Sorry.

If Ben is cleared to play by the Doctors and coaches then anyone who says he shouldn't play is implying that they know better.

I'll take a medically cleared Ben over Batch, Lefty or Hoyer any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Have to beat the Rats Sunday, assuming we make the playoffs, do we really want to face them again riding a 4 game losing streak? Being swept by them 2 season in a row? I want to kick their @ss Sunday and knock the smugness out of them so they stop thinking they are invincible.

Ben wont be playing this week, the next week, or the week after that, like Kolb, Ben will take his motion test this week, and like Kolb who has been out for 6 weeks so far with the same two injuries Ben has, Ben wont be able to make the basic throws he needs to make to be ready to play. That said, this team needs to bring an attitude to baltimore that says we aint going down easy without a fight........
