I wasn't even REMOTELY close on the score so being off by a point is pretty impressive.

Losing TJ is huge and I, too, am sad about it. He's my guy...:(

Go back and look at the Stats versus the 49ers in Mason’s first start. Defense was lights out, getting turn overs all day. We lost.

Happy to get the W. But with Watt likely out for the season and having the worst offense in NFL history , it brings you back to reality fast

    Not like that....LoL.
2 sacks, 1 fumble, and 2 ints....does not equal 6 sacks , 5 forced turnovers, a forced turnover on downs (so 6 turnovers), a blocked field goal, and a pick 6.....Sorry.
Also You are comparing a Qb that played His 1st NFL start ever... to a Qb that was in His 51 NFL start. In No way is this a comparison.

LOL God no. We lose that by 14 if Mason is in there. No way 2 plays that game without turning it over. Mitch wasn't sharp, but he didn't make any costly plays (aside from the heart-attack scramble that somehow ended without him fumbling).

I agree that yesterday's defensive performance was better than that in 2019.... However, we turned the 9ers over 5 times that game (Garoppolo was only responsible for 3, but Raheem Mostert and one of their WR's also lost fumbles that game). It doesn't list downs so idk if they had any turnovers on downs for that one. It was pretty bad. We were short a pick six and a few sacks, but it was still a horrendous loss to SF that game.

    I already went and looked.
    49ers had 2 ints, 3 fumbles , and 2 sacks on them.
That does not compare to 4 ints, a fumble, 7 sacks, a pick 6 , a blocked field goal, a turnover on downs,, and a Qb on His 51start...vs a Qb on His 1st ever NFL start, and we only lost by 3.

Its pretty close though. I agree that yesterday's defensive performance was superior to that of 2019.... However, if you turn a team over 5 times and lose, its really bad. Its the NFL. Idc if its someone's first start or not. 5 turnovers = a win like 99% of the time.

Yeah, hate to be a bummer but with all the interceptions and sacks how in the world was this so close that we almost lost it in OT.

    Offense…..

The difference in the 2 games is that the offense didn't turn the ball over yesterday, while the Steeler team in the 2019 49er game had 2 turnovers. Rudolph threw a pick and James Conner had a terrible fumble with around 3 minutes left in the game while we were trying to run the clock out.

Yeah and almost lost if they didn't miss 2 chip shot FG attempts.

You keep skipping not only was it was a better Defensive performance....one Qb was getting His 51 NFL start, and the other was getting His Very 1st NFL start. Why are You skipping that part??? Is that not a big dang difference???

I'm not skipping over it, its just not relevant. Its the NFL, no one cares if you're a rookie or a vet. There may be a feeling of "well he still has time to learn and develop" for the rookie from the fans after the game instead of the "this guy is garbage, lets try someone else" for the vet. How long do you get the benefit of the doubt? At the end of the day a bad performance is still bad no matter how many games you've played. When you cause 5+ turnovers, you win the game.

I stopped reading after it's not relevant. LoL.
A guy making his 51st start compared to a guy making His very first NFL start is.....NOT RELEVANT????? LOL :roflmao:

You don't have to agree with it, but that's the way it is. Is an embarrassing performance less embarrassing because a guy is young? No. It just means there is still hope that the kid can develop and get better. It IS more likely that a young guy has an embarrassing performance than a vet, but its still embarrassing nonetheless.

Mason's performance in that game is not less terrible because he was young, it was just more expected. It being his first game somehow doesn't make that disgrace of a game somehow less bad. The defense turned them over 5 times and we still lost. That is always 100% on the offense.
