I expected a better performance from Mitch Trubisky

He was really a non factor in that game today.

 

Same. The play calling is very disappointing. Looks like chip kelly to me...straight to the sidelines. This is the nfl where everyone is fast.

 

Agree. No glaring mistakes but he did nothing to contribute to the win. Nice pass to Muth to get them into FG range but he missed a lot of passes today. Offense wasn’t in sync. He’s a place keeper until Pickett makes his appearance, which could be sooner rather than later.

 

OC sucks. Not defending Trub, but not much the QB can do if they keep doing reverses to the WR.

 

I did also. There was a few positive things, but he and the offense are going to need to play much better.

 

Mitch was awful today. He was indecisive. His footwork was atrocious. He threw off his back foot on several occasions where he was not pressured. He looked shaky to me from early on. He needs to be better, or the Steeelers need to make the switch.

 

I'm giving him a few more games. Yes it could be OC, but I still saw bad throws. And OC can say the field wasn't opening up, so he was limited.

Therefore for to give it a few weeks.

..... so want to say O line was better than I thought.

 

Well to answer the statement in the name of this thread by the OP, I did not expect much better. On to the kid!

By the way, fun fact about Mitch Trubisky- he is now the player taken highest overall in the NFL draft to play for the Steelers since--

Terry Bradshaw.

It starts with the o-line. This line cannot run block. If the line could run block, play action would be astrength of the offense.

 

Who would have also been drafted by the Chicago Bears, but for a fortuitous coin toss.

 

They need a better route tree for DJ.

I can't recall one catch he made where he wasn't heading out of bounds or back towards the LOS.

 

I think the game plan was for him to manage the game and not make a mistake. But I agree he's going to need to play MUCH better because no way the defense is going to give us -5 turnovers, 7 sacks and a TD in every game.

Mitch was phenomenal is this incredible victory. He should be praised for his incredible performance.

He definitely left some throws out there. However, they didn't turn the ball over and they managed to win the game.

 

I will also say, that lost in the carnage of this 5 quarter epic, was that MT did pull off a helluva drive in the last minute to get into FG range.

 

I’m amazed people think/thought QB play will improve immediately without Ben. LOL

Like I said after we signed him: He is a (now) 28 year old Mark Sanchez. What was seen today from Mitch should surprise no one.

 

He didn’t make any costly mistakes so…there is that. That is a bit of a change from QB play in recent years.

Beyond that, he wasn’t too good but the playcalling was predictably predictable and the line was predictably terrible so it is hard to criticize him too severely.

 

Everyone in the thread was saying his footwork was bad. They finally put the game on my Cable when OT started and yeah ... there he was throwing off his back foot.

For a vet it just seems careless, he should know better.
