In no way am I excusing that horrible all-around performance by our team. It appeared we were disinterested in playing today and I do think there is a lot of blame to go around. Eight turnovers against a 3-8 (now) team???

Having said all of that, I want to understand was that really a turnover by Cleveland with under 2:00 to go or not? I admit I was streaming the game so I could not listen to the broadcast, however, how was THAT not a fumble? We had the ball? Was there a whistle? Could we not challenge it because we had no timeouts left? (I thought all turnovers and plays in the last two minutes were reviewed automatically.) After watching the games this weekend, there just seems to be too much inconsistency regarding automatic replays on turnovers and scoring plays. As that play ran down, i believe it was under two minutes. What was the reason?

Yes it was a fumble....No we could not challange it we were out of time outs....No it was before the 2MW and also ruled down by contact so no auto review....Bad call? sure.... Lost todays game for us? Not even close.

It should have been ruled a fumble. We couldn't challenge because we were out of timeouts, and it wasn't reviewed because it wasn't ruled a turnover on the field.

It was just OVER 2:00 when the play was over, no there was no whistle, and yes, we could not challenge because we were out of time outs. That being said, I think the ref's really blew that call. With the way the replay rules are written, the officials should let the play finish, called it a fumble and let replay decide if it was a fumble.

My opinion is that it was a fumble, but the whole "forward progress" thing makes it sticky. But it should have been called a fumble and reviewed.

    Definitely a fumble.
Not totally sure that Rainey's was a fumble, no one even mentioned how close it was.
Eh, the O-line played terribly, one play doesn't determine the game (usually).

Yeah definitely a fumble, stunned they called him down. Of course that is the way this game went for us, having no time outs and the refs making a horrible call. Could Foote have ran it in for a TD??? or did he fall on it and get touched, then run, they didn't replay the whole enough..

That's the issue. For 2 weeks in a row they let a clear incomplete be called a fumble and the play continue, but they blow this one dead?

Thought it was just me bc no one else had mentioned it. But the Rainey fumble to me was close.

It was a fumble but right now the Steelers are in Bizzaro Officals land. Every week the 3rd team is more of a factor than the Steelers or their opposition

Probably 9 out of 10 games that's a fumble. If only that call had gone our way we could have committed a ninth turnover.

it did look like a fumble. his forward progress was stopped. but just as they pushed him back he was stripped.

they were out of timeouts so they couldnt challenge.

there was just over 2 minutes left so it wasnt an automatic review.
