Not trying to start crap but do we really want to start Ben if he is still hurting or could possibly get hurt worse? As fans we could be being a little selfish. I say let him heal. Let the team take their ass whippings, give the coach time to pull his head out of his fourth point of contact. (sorry, airborne reference) We all know by now that IF we were to get into the playoffs we would be one and done.

I say shut him down for the year. No sense in rushing him back prematurely to chase down a wildcard spot that is almost a pipe dream right now. This isn't a team i want to see in the playoffs this year, just so we can have a repeat of the denver game last year.

I would only play him if he is 100%. One hit in those ribs or shoulder and he's back on the sideline.

I also have reservations about playing him. (Can you just see Thuggs' mouth watering? No thanks.) I know he was having a good year until now, but putting him in next week so we can MAYBE get a wild card just doesn't make sense. I agree with another poster - with what we are seeing, we are one and done in the playoffs anyways. We have far more pressing issues. (Lack of motivation, discipline/penalties, etc.)

I was on the let him heal side before today. Now I am convinced we don't win another game without him. So as long as he's out of danger with the ribs thing, I say play him. I'd rather take my chances with a less then 100% Ben then what has been on display the last 2 weeks. I know, Lefty was hurt but I'll still take Ben.

With 5 weeks to go.. I'm not willing to throw the towel in yet. The Steelers are sitting in the 6th playoff spot right now.. even with todays loss. NEVER QUIT!!!

    Stupid

How many years have you watch football. 11-5 can make the playoffs.

Its great that we all shoot for perfection then the division title.
We've gOne on a run and can do it again.

This game was a joke. Outside from the absurd officiating, we looked beyond this game. This game has an opportunity to gel each side of the ball to force unity with all the players. NFL talent is the best of the best.

Why doesn't tomlin start young guys?? It's called trust and it goes further then talent.

Quit talking rational. Don't you know this isnt the time for such nonsense? Now is the time to say that the Steelers should fire everyone, bench everyone, cut everyone, trade everyone, and purposefully lose every game from here on out to get a better draft pick.

    How is it stupid?

Squeaking into the playoffs as a 6 seed wildcard team, with the teams we have lost to this year, and the ways we have lost those games, there is no reason to think that they make it as the wildcard, and then make some "magical" run in the playoffs. Why risk the health of your franchise QB to do that? THAT way of thinking is stupid. The more unnecessary risk that they put on Ben's shoulders, sooner than later we will be looking for a starting QB sooner than a suitable backup or three. Use the rest of this season to develop some talented young guys, find a QB in the draft, and start fresh next year. Also, you can't blame 8 turnovers on absurd officiating. You will never win a game in the NFL with 8 turnovers. Ever.

Okay, I'll play. If we sit Ben, what do we gain? Who are we developing? What young guys get better by this move? The answer is no one, which is why we play Ben and see how far he can take us.

I wouldn't rush Ben back, but if he's able to go it is stupid to shut him down for the year. Further it is absurd to sit in week 11 and project out that you may only squeak into the PO's as a 6 seed and deem it unlikely to make a run and shut the season down.

    That is amazingly stupid.

You put your best effort forward with your best players every single week regardless of what you project the future to hold.

Rcall what happned the last time the Steelers needed to win their last five games to skeak into the playoffs as a wildcard and face teams that beat us earlier in the year?????? If I recall, they won 5, went on the road for 3 (beating Cincy, Indy, Denver) and then won the SB.

Good thing AZ wasn't the coach in '05. Manning may have won his first SB a year early.

If the doctors clear him, he plays. It's that simple.

    I agree.
Some of these posts are so stupid that it's kinda entertaining. You can bet if we go on a run in the playoffs that some of these spoiled fans will come crawling back waving their towel and acting like the never gave up on the Steelers.
Someone mentioned earlier about jumping off the bridge, I'd like to throw some them off myself.

Just to make sure, let's sit him all next year also.
And let's also sit..., ya know what, I don't feel like wasting my time on this silliness.

I actually find it funny you mention playoff run after the loss today. Wake up all you homers we are not that good. Didn't we lose to the Raiders, Titans, and barely beat the Eagles, and Chiefs with Ben for all games except the second half of the Cheifs? All of the teams mentioned including the Browns from today, none have a winning record. I will be the first one to eat crow if we make the playoffs and make a run at the Super Bowl (not a wild card one game and out as the AFC is weak). I hope I am wrong on our team but doesn't look good.
