He was a coach. Have the Steelers ever Honored a player that has never dressed for a game....let alone played a down for them???
I don't mind it in the least bit, but IMO it seems strange. :hmm:

Sadly it’s political, “Look at me” , during this woke social justice version of the NFL!!

He was their friend. How in the **** is this political?

Never mind, you’re another broken radicalized person in America and won’t have a logical answer.

What difference does it make? He’s still a teammate. They can still be friends

this is the most ignorant thing said. No matter how long he was in a Steelers uniform he developed friendships.

down here where I coach youth baseball and a child passes away, every team has that child’s number put on their uniform somewhere. Doesn’t matter if it was a rival team or not. It’s out of sympathy and kindness that it is done, not for the reason you claim. Doesn’t matter what level of play it is.

I am going to guess: since inception? I tried searching for what the first post on the board was about...

You want to know when this board started telling the Steeler organization what to do? Since it started. On a Game Day Thread we are constantly telling them the right play but do they listen? Noooooooo. ;)

Personally I could care less. He seemed like a nice guy who teammates liked BUT the teammates didn’t make this decision nor do they have that ability! The NFL is VERY Strict on what players uniforms look Like!!! Big Ben was fined early in his career for a a Jesus reference on his wristband.

Also for a team to honor one of their own in such a way is usually reserved for for a person who made an impact on the team whether it be a long time owner or potential HOF player. NOT for a 3rd string player who has zero games/snaps and only been on the roster less than a couple years.

To deny the political landscape of this country over the last few years AND how it has filtered its way down to the NFL is juvenile. Whether it’s right or wrong doesn’t change the fact.

A sticker on the back of the helmet does nothing for him or his family! Wasn’t he a father ???? Now his kids are fatherless so a better way of honoring him would be to set up a college fund for his kids or make a really nice donation to his foundation, if he had one??… but a sticker screams look what we’re doing for a player —- who again—- was just another guy—-

Jump down my throat , call me names, Don’t care……. Agree or disagree… don’t care…..

That’s awesome!!!! But your league isn’t governed by the Heavy hand of the NFL who may I Remind you and everyone else controls EVeRYTHING that can be seen by the camera on the uniforms !!!!

Tell when another 3rd string player with no games or snaps has gotten such an honor??? Why not honor all players who ever made a 53 man roster and did something stupid that cost them their life!!

Obviously you do care or you wouldn’t have made your stupid comment. Then you double down trying to justify the comment. It makes no difference if Ben got in trouble or not. Obviously the team/organization cleared it with the nfl. It also makes no difference if he was a starter or career clipboard holder. There are numerous articles out there talking about the positive impact Haskins had on the team. These people lost a friend/coworker and are honoring him. What a momentous sign of the terrible troubling times we live in. #snowflake

Wow man. I hate all the woke stuff that goes on too. But this is a team honoring a former player that died. What does that have to do with anything "woke"? Honestly I am surprised it took this long for the team to honor Haskins. Regardless of how long he played here, or how good he was, he had good friendships with his teammates.

    snowflake??? Obviously you’re ignorant!!

There’s nothing wrong with honoring a friend or teammate , in fact doing so is awesome and this world needs more sincere acts of remembering and honoring , but a sticker does crap except honor those with the sticker!!!! Make a real act of honoring the man and do something meaningful and lasting and impacting for his Family/kids………..

Tell me how you really feel you clueless……person…… honestly you verbally attacking me instead either ignoring me or engaging me in conversation to understand/debate or correct what I’ve said is exactly who I’ve known you to be for years.

Conversation and debate is a fundamental part of every civil society , Even message boards, Something that escapes you!!!

The first post here was probably about how effed up the "official" MB was. It got really bad towards the end as if the Steelers didn't know it even existed and some disgruntled former employee was conducting a social experiment. Thank goodness for TTF and this great place he created! :drinks:
