I know some Bears fans that liked Daniels I thought he would be a big pickup for us. Something is really really wrong with the OL from top to bottom.

supposedly, it’s a different scheme than what we’ve been running the past few years. Guys are either slow to adapt or we are trying to force square pegs into round holes.

Ever since Munchak left this Oline has been a bunch of bottom feeders. He obviously had some pull to get above average players. Now they pretty much ignore the position. This is why I would have Pickett listed as the 3rd QB. Don't ruin the future by tossing him to the wolves.

When we stop hiring college assistants to coach the o-line, that's when the line may improve

They have a new GM who will be running free agency and the draft next year, and his right hand man Andy Weidl from the Eagles where they prioritized the OL.

Nope. Meyer has been coaching for a long time, much of it in the NFL. I'm just not sure he is any good. Watching guys regress this preseason does not inspire confidence.

Some of you fans act like they were going to trade for a Pro Bowl type of player, teams don't usually get rid of those type of players.

Meyer is teaching the OL a new blocking technique that none of them have used before, and they get confused during the game on what exactly they’re supposed to do with their footwork and their hands. So they’re thinking instead of playing football.

a bunch of articles are on this on various Steelers websites.

Under Tomlin, here is who was drafted in the 7th round:

    2007 Dallas Baker

    2008 Ryan Mundy

2009 AQ Shipley and David Johnson

    2010 Doug Worthington

    2011 Baron Batch

    2012 Kelvin Beachum

    2013 Nick Williams

    2014 Rob Blanchflower

    2015 Gerod Holliman

    2016 Tyler Matakevich

    2017 Keion Adams

    2018 Joshua Frazier

    2019 Derwin Gray

    2020 Carlos Davis

    2021 Pressley Harvin III

    2022 Chris Oladokun

When it comes to giving up a 7th round pick, for a guy who maybe could help us, but even if he doesn't, why so serious? Why does anyone care?

Probably the best they could do on the eve of the start of the regular season. This line was showing cracks years ago. But they kept trying to fix it with duct tape and bailing wire. Kind of the same attitude they had for years with their CB's. They need to get a quality guard and center next offseason in the draft and/or in free agency. They need to get some studs on that offensive line, and they also need to pay an o-line coach that has a respectable pro resume'. They are not going to get where they want to go and where we want to see them with this prevailing cheap attitude towards the offensive line.

It's time to get past that excuse. Let's assume they are telling the truth about this and not covering for incompetence by the players, the coach, or both. They have had all of training camp to adjust. If they can't do it in that time, either he's doing a lousy job teaching it or they never should have tried it in the first place.

Mundy was a decent special teams player. Beachum is still a starter in the league. Matakevich is a good special teamer and decent backup linebacker. Gray had some upside. Harvin might still be a good punter. There is value in that round.

agreed. I’m amazed that it’s still an issue.

what and how do they run the practices that they haven’t figured things out yet??

Do 100 snaps per day per player focusing on nothing but technique for 4 weeks should make things become second nat

Is it possible it don't matter who the Steelers draft or trade for if the coaches can't coach?

Well if they can't learn the new technique why not go back to the old technique of firing out and hitting the guy across from you? I don't think blocking the guy across from you is ever a bad thing.

Considering they got Reed and a 7th for a 6th and now Davis for a 7th, one can say they got Reed and Davis for a 6th. Not bad if both turn out to be serviceable

It's a meme based on the X-Men animated series from the '90s. In the original image, Wolverine is looking at a picture of the object of his unrequited love, pining away.
