I have no faith in anything Dulac says at this point. He's wrong way to often for my taste.

Bush has fallen short of his 2019 season. Myles Jack quite possibly is the steal of 2022 free agency.
Spillane is a starting level MLB.
Last I looked, Pittsburgh's depth chart had Devin Bush/Robert Spillane at starters.
I don't know what Pittsburgh's scheme is as far as trade, but I could see them sit on Bush this year, even as a backup.

I figure they are looking at a O-Line trade.

 

To my credit I could have deleted it. I figured I would leave it up and take my lumps.

 

But what if he's right......THIS TIME?

Spillane isn't a starting level MLB, as soon as teams see him in the game, they will target him in pass coverage.

 

Say what? Spillane is below average.

 

Lot of people in the biz say he's starter quality as an ILB.
I 'think' what it is based on is the fact that he started as an undrafted ILB from W. Mich.

Then showed progress and even broke into the Titans lineup.

He played well enough when Bush went down, not spectacular but starting quality and even had a pick 6 and fumble recovery against the Ravens.
So, I think a lot of the evaluation is based on his rising in the ranks.
Steelers thought enough of him to bring him back for another look.

There are players that are just blue-collar ballers, Spillane appears to be one of them.
I figure he could start for some teams but mostly be a consistent rotational player.
And in light of the distaste for Bush, unless the Steelers can find someone better, maybe a starter.

I can't view this guy as someone who gets on the field and is buzzard bait...
There's been several scouts who have said he's functional starter as an "ILB" (my mistake, I fat fingered 'M' instead of 'I')
But let's keep in on earth, He probably would get picked up, but no one is going to beat down the doors and back up a truck load of gold.
He's making a living off 1-year deals ($2.4M)

I do like this.. they do have confidence in him, and Austin and Flores seem to follow suit.

Just to be sure, I'm in no-way promoting him as anything other than just a backup guy that is capable of starting if his number is called.
