Didn’t happen during the game, happened during camp. Good news is he is at week 4 of the recovery time. Hopefully he didn’t set himself back during the game yesterday.

I don't like this - I am liking your post because I just said that on another post and someone told me it was just the media making it up.

Why did he even play, let alone play the entire first half? The decisions this team makes sometimes can be just baffling.

to all the people who scream, "how dare you start starters". understand that
    1. They need to warm up and gel
    2. they have rust they need to get kicked off
    3. if they cannot handle a quarter or two, they are clearly not ready for a regular season game where they play all 4 quarters.

I agree. It sinks that you can lose a good player in a meaningless game. But heck, you can lose a guy, in the first two games of a season.
Look at Big Ben in 2019, he maybe played 1.5 Quarters of that pre-season.

Went out week two and hurt his elbow. Done for the year.... 6 quarters into a football season.

Better than nothing and watch them go to crap after the half in week one. Don't care who you are, but it increases the chance of injuries waiting until week 1 with no game time.

They have 2 weeks off. It's not like next Sunday is week 1.

Funny, TJ Watt didn't play any pre season last year and won DPOY and tied the single season sack record.

I understand dusting off some rust but he is the most important player on this team. A couple of series and yank. If his injury was season ending its not "Next Man Up"

Cam Heyward as well. A couple of series and yank. Just coming off an injury.

Najee Harris reveled he had a lisfrac sprain.

These 3 including Minkah are the bread and butter of this team. Lose any and its not a plug and play replacement. You can add DJ as well.

I understand injuries can happen at any time but a meaningless game? Should have been handled better.

Starters have pretty much always played the first half of the third preseason game. It’s not just the Steelers either. The lengths y’all will go to bash a coach or a player is astounding. Facts be damned!

I like that drive in a player. He didn’t feel ready, got no problem with it.

We had a guy that used to run around on the board posting wrap these guys in bubble wrap, he was so deathly afraid of injuries. Part of the game my guy.

And dear Lord if he wasnt banned already he would have been after this Najee incident, he would have been intolerable :lolol:

What are you actually going to see out of TJ Watt or Cam Heyward and say I'm not sure if they are ready to play in game 1. They really need some more fine tuning to get in game shape? When it comes to being rusty these two are pretty much stainless steel. Why risk any possibility of injury in that meaningless game. Give them 2 or 3 series and then sit em down. Like CK13 said, It's not next man up with a handful of players on this team.

That is some of the best news I've heard about this team, not the injury but his take on his own play. Dudes got passion for the game for sure.

Yeah it sucks to get an injury in preseason, but you have to get these guys ready. Hard to say how much playing time is enough and how much is too much.

So think about what you are saying. What if they get injured in the first series? Then was that too much?

Seems to me Harris wanted to play. Coach let him. No harm no foul on Tomlin.
With this oline rust got knocked off IMMEDIATLEY. No?

While I don't agree with that logic in all cases, I get it. The difference here is that Harris is dealing with an injury. I think a brief test to see if he could go at game speed made some sense, but I'm not sure playing the entire half was a great idea. Hopefully, the two weeks before the opener will give him enough time to be 100 percent against the Bengals.

It depends on the player. As someone already pointed out, Watt didn't play in the preseason last year and he didn't miss a beat in the regular season. That tells me they didn't really need to have him out there yesterday, either. Notice, I had no issue with them playing Johnson even though he was also hurt in the game. Does anybody doubt that the first-team offense needed the work? Trubisky probably needed more real reps with his receivers. He is still new to the team. I certainly feel better about him in that offense after seeing him hit on some throws down the field, including the throw to Johnson down the sideline early on.
