But, this could be a whole training thing of only having Kenny read half the field. As someone pointed out this is what they did to Ben his first year. He would only need to focus on 1 side of the field, so if he was throwing left, he would never look to his right.

If that is what the QB Staff is telling him what to do; then I can't blame Kenny for not ever looking right, when he is throwing left.

Yes , but He's still going Middle 2 left, or left 2 middle...like on the 2 plays I pointed out.

Everybody isn't saying it. Yet again, you are building your premise on a false assertion.

I also made no mention of anything resembling a conspiracy theory. You either misread my post or made that up in an attempt to discredit what I wrote.

Somebody already explained this to you. They even gave you time stamps. You just refuse to see it or you refuse to admit you have been proven wrong. Those are the only two possibilities.

I don't believe anyone ever thought that. I believe He's the best backup.

Nope. Just because a lot of people are wrong, it does not mean they are right.

    Here you go:

@10:25 Starts middle, looks left and nails Claypool.
@12:45 Looks at Gunner's spot first, LBs gain too much depth so he switches to Muth.

    That is two. Anything else?

I mean there's whole articles about him making it through 2nd and 3rd reads.

The only time he locks on a side is on roll-out plays. That typically cuts the field in half by design though.

I thought he was the best QB on the team March 13

Actually just before that Colbert said if the season started today Mason would be the starting quarterback

There’s two types of people when their hard line takes are presented with contradictory evidence.

    1. “oh, thank you for sharing. I still think that he stares his receivers down too much to be considered to start week 1, but my original stance might’ve been a bit harsh. Hopefully we see more of this as the year progresses”

    2. “Nope. Your evidence is invalid or downright incorrect. Any dissent from my opinion will be met with resistance. I will double down on my original stance and look like a clown.”

I guess we will see where poster in question falls in this dichotomy hahah

In all honesty though, I don’t think he stares guys down too much. He will at times, sure. He’s a rookie, that will happen. However he has shown the ability to look guys off at times and also has great anticipation of who will be open based on his reads. Idk if he is seriously being considered to start week 1 or not, but his play thus far makes him look likes he would be ready if they did choose to start him.

Agree with all of this. There's way too many 2's in our society....not just on Steelers message boards. Live in their own fantasy world totally separate from reality.

If you count both Pickett and Trubisky as starters, then yes, Mason is the best backup.

That’s because we mods were asleep at the wheel and didn’t have him get a physical before joining the board.

Pickett starting for the Steelers IS inevitable. Unless he screws up big time, Pickett will be the starter for the Steelers at some point. The only question is when? Game 1? October 1? Thxgiving? Next yr? It will almost certainly happen.

Took a look at the last 10yrs of drafts in pro-football reference. I might have missed a guy or two, but Every 1st round QB got a least one start during his rookie yr. The sole exception being Jordan Love. And there’s no Aaron Rodgers holding Pickett back on this roster.

I want to see him struggle his first two series against the Lions, perhaps throw an interception. I want to test his moxie in adversity. Will he shrug that off and play his game anyways, or will he fold like a tent like first round busts habitually do? I tend to think it's the former. You probably wouldn't get enough sample size in a half. All QBs have struggling moments; IE Mahomes in the first 5-6 games last season. Struggles happen, it's battling through those struggles that makes one a franchise QB. Call me crazy, I'm rooting for him nonetheless. He proved his moxie at the college game, but it's not proven yet at this level... but at some point it will be.

Nope, he never looks right and completely missed a wide open WR running free down the sideline. The DB was playing way too deep and it should have been an easy throw. That guy would have still been running with the ball if Kenny had ever looked over to the right side of the field.
