I agree with Mashburn 1000% here...keep Pickett out of this quagmire! Protect him at all cost. Give these Tribumski balllickers credit, too, they think he's some "good" QB. I do NOT! In fact, he's a BUST, and fits perfectly into a long and infamous line of terrible Steelers QB's that this organization has tried to force-feed on this city...I call BS, Mitch is barely good enough to be a #2 in this league, IMO.

I for the record wanna see Pickett start, yes even with a bad offensive line, there is just something about him that makes me think he is gonna be special.

I also like Mitch and if Pickett doesn’t get the nod, I’m okay with it because I think he can also get us positive yardage. Yeah he may move before he is supposed to and not see some guys, but he does move the chains as well.

call me crazy but I have a feeling about this season.

Putting Pickett in may be the fastest a #1 draft pick QB's career is over. Or do we want to see what damage is done to Trubiski instead?

Hmm....You are correct....I don't want 2 see Him damaged, but .....think on this....OL sucked last year....,and it may suck this Year....so what if it sucks again next year....do We just keep sitting Him on the bench till everything is perfect???
That may never come.......I think He's the best Qb on the team.....Period.
So no matter what.... You go with the best You got....JMO....., but I do understand what You are getting at.

I agree that was what was being spewed around here. Dink/dunk/ defense crowding the line, etc etc. However, since the guy who is doing the fastest now is who some want in the game, all is ok and so what?

The last few years doing this had a HOF QB (or others with multiple years of experience) running the offense, not a rookie that really hasn't yet been tested in real combat. I don't know who the best QB on the team is to be honest since nothing has been done in real games where all starters are playing and game planning against our starting and key personnel performed. These are vanilla scrimmages. I value experience until undisputable proof says someone's talent supersedes it. I don't have a favorite to start at QB as I am not in a position to know and depend on others to make this decision. JMO>

But he's not Going first read, You can watch his head moves on most drop backs. It may be true that he's processing the pressure a bit faster and getting rid of the ball to his hot or first read when pressured more.

Both of them probably rank low on the snap count as well. So a few longer releases really skew the numbers. Kenny had 10 snaps in the Jacksonville game and a 2 minute drill. Mitch had 15 snaps and Mason had 32 only 2 players had more than him.

Problem is he's actually throwing middle of the field and in stride as well. Those throws to Pat and Snell were money! The offense with Ben felt like step-step-step, turn face the QB, try to turn and get more yards.

I haven't watched a single preseason game yet. Just seems like a overrated stat to me.

This "getting rid of the ball faster" data doesn't mean much to me. Honestly I could care less who gets rid of the ball faster. It is a little unfair to judge Trubisky in that way as he has played considerably less than the other 2 guys. This last game he was running for his life for most of his time in the game. So of course if you are basing your data off of this limited sample size, you are going to find data that fits your narrative.

I went back and tried to re-watch some of the game, just to see if you were correct about Trubisky not needing to scramble. My kids kept bothering me so I really didn't get to pay as close attention as I would have liked to. I can say on the one play he had Najee available to check down. Pass would have been about a 3 yard gain and no one else was open. I think it was the long scramble where I certainly didn't see anyone open. The other scramble the defense was on Mitchell before his receivers even came out of their breaks. I'm not sure you can call that open.

Here is my QB evaluation so far

Mitch Trubisky throws a consistently accurate tight spiral. He has the ability to move in the pocket. He looks very comfortable, even under pressure. He has the most experience of the 3. We have not watched him play much, but IMO, based off what we have seen, Mitch has presented himself very well. He is going to be the guy.

Mason Rudolph is who we thought he was. He has had a great camp, and by Mason Rudolph standards, he is playing the best ball of his career. He throws a great deep ball. He has the right attitude. He also struggles with accuracy at times. He seems to lumber around in the pocket. He makes poor decisions with the football when he is pressured. Mason is a great #2 to have, and I think he could be a #1 in a perfect situation. I hope he gets traded for his own sake. He is better than a #3 in my book. He doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of starting here.

Kenny Pickett is going to be the man eventually. It is just a matter of when. People are now knocking him because he only throws to his first read. I'm not buying it. Most passing plays should go to your first read. That's why it's your first read.(DUH) He is sharp. He is accurate. I think Trubisky throws a pretty ball. The balls Pickett throws are gorgeous. Whatever "it" is. Kenny has "it". If he puts in another great performance on Sunday, I think Tomlin needs to really consider starting the season with Pickett.

This narrative being made up about Pickett that he stares down receivers and can’t go through progressions is laughable. He was about the only QB that came out of college that could go through his reads, it’s one of his strengths.

Theres really nothing flashy about him, he just has it between the ears and has really great touch on the ball and accurate. He knows how to process information, the amount he has improved just from the start of camp is pretty impressive. You can have all the talent in the world, if you don’t have the football IQ to play QB, you are going to fail.

You are not insane. You are making a mountain out of a mole hill though.

Trying to analyze data from a handful of preseason possessions is foolhardy. It is waaaaaaay to early to assume Trubisky will hang on to the ball too long.

Honestly, there really is only one dude who made that statement about Pickett and we all know who that was. The fact that we're all still debating it amongst ourselves just means his mission was completed.
