It was said. But also mentioned that Kenny had his best day of camp and outperformed both.

I honestly want the best Qb 2 win, but I honestly hope it's Pickett.
I just don't see them sticking Him out there unless everything turns south for the team, and they want 2 see what they got , or of course a bunch of injuries (God forbid)

I leaning more to hoping Pickett is named the starter for the season opener. Trubisky and Rudolph are never going to lead the Steelers to anything. Let the #1 pick take the reins right away, if he goes 5-12 that's OK, in 2023 he comes in with a year experience under his belt.

It personally doesn't matter to me. I just want to win the SB. I ain't going to lose my shytt regardless of who wins QB1. I'm just looking at the tea leaves presented to me.

I think we all want the best to win

My logic is Mitch and Mason who are who we think they are and don’t have a lot of upside potential beyond where they are

If Pickett actually plays better that’s great but he should have a lot more potential for growth over the years

In the long run that would be great

One reason for that is Trubisky has never played against the Steelers. He didn't get to play in the Bears game against the Steelers in 2017 or in the opener with the Bills last season.

You weren't actually serious with the part about Nagy, were you?

If you don't understand the value of a mobile quarterback, that's just a failure on your part.

Do you not understand the difference between his first 10 games and Rudolph's or is this intentionally misleading?

For Roethlisberger, those 10 games came during his rookie season. Rudolph has 10 starts spread out over four seasons.

Roethlisberger was never allowed to throw more than 25 times in the first 10 games of his career. Rudolph has thrown the ball at least 35 times in six of his 10 starts, including 50 attempts in his stinker against the Lions last season.

also a little misleading scribe. rudolph was in the beginning of his 2nd year. his first as the number 2 QB after being the number 3 guy his rookie year behind ben and dobbs. he didn't get a ton of reps as a #3 that first year. he had just went through a training camp and 1-1/2 games as a backup. then thrown to the wolves for those first 8 starts with an injury thrown in between those. so no practice then. 1 start in year 3 as the #2 and 1 start in year 4 as the #2.

I've stated before that Mitch Trubisky is nothing more than Mike Tomczak 2.0, just to keep the seat warm until Pickett is ready. The way Trubisky has struggled in camp, I'm changing my initial thought and calling him Kent Graham 2.0. I say he still starts the season, but gives way to Mason after a few rough weeks.

Mason passed for 315 yards against the Browns and nearly won that game.

Ben passed for over 300 yards twice last season. Several games games he didn't break 200 yards. His rookie season, he had 4 games he didn't crack 150 yards, per game. His second season in which we won the SB, he had five games he didn't break 200 yards, and one of those games he threw for 93 yards. So by your astute observation, are you saying Ben sucked?

    C'mon man. Terrible comparison.

Yes, they would still bring in 2 QB's with Ben, but they wouldn't bring one in to be the starter and then spend their first round pick on a QB, then spend another pick on a QB.

Duck replaced a QB who came back too soon from concussion protocol. It wasn't your typical concussion of a helmet to helmet or head hitting the ground where the player gets up and wobbles to the sideline. No, he was knocked out cold. This was as serious as you are going to get for a concussion. Duck didn't replace him because he outplayed him. Duck replaced him due to a sustained injury.

We all know what Ben meant to the franchise, but let's be honest. Ben was not the typical QB, he was respected but he was also (much to many of our dismay) was never considered an elite QB due to his style of play. He is HOF, but he was often rated outside of the Top 5, let alone Top 10.

I would love for Pickett to be named the starter. However, I want to to be sure the OLine is ready to protect the QB. While I am happy we got him, I would rather build the team around him first and then insert him as the missing piece of the puzzle. If we put him in too soon, he may be hearing footsteps every time the ball is snapped. It has worked out so well for the Bengals and Browns over the years of drafting QBs in the top 5 only to not have a supporting cast and run the QBs out of the league.

I think Tomlin is supposed to let us know today who the QBs will be for Saturday.

Really looking forward to seeing Kendrick Green play on Saturday. Everything I read about him is how good he is doing in camp this year. The only move Green had last year was backpedaling 5 - 7 yards into Ben's Face. Hopefully he has found another gear besides reverse!

I think there's a press conference in about 10 minutes.

As for Green. I think he settled in nicely and found his niche and is playing solid rn. Happy for him.

While we are going to see each QB throughout the season, the irony is that we will have better QB play for the 2022 season than we had last season. Ben should have been pulled several times throughout last season. IMHO I believe there was an agreement that Ben would not be benched no matter his level of play due to him coming back at a lesser salary in 2021. Whether it be Trubisky or Rudolph, neither will be afforded the same luxury Ben was given last season.

Ben was a top 5-6 QB for much of his first 15 seasons.Passing yards never tells the whole story, since it depends a lot on the number of pass attempts...We all know that when the Steelers had the lead (which was often the case in 2004 and 2005) it was the Cowherball at the max!

Ben was 2nd in 2004 for yards per pass attempts at 8.9 behind Peyton Manning and first in 2005, also at 8.9

Ben was making plays in his rookie season that Mason would never have tried

For those of you who keep going with the bogus argument that Mason could not hold Duck Hodges off the bench, will you also be sharing the same argument that Mitch Trubisky will be the QB who could not hold Mason Rudolph off the bench?

While I agree that Ben did great his rookie season. He also benefited from a tough defense. He himself even had a talk with the team during his second season that the offense had to start putting it together because he was embarrassed the defense was carrying the load. Whether it was Mason or Duck in 2019, the defense was still coming into their own and wasn't quite there yet compared to the 2020 season when we went 11-0.
