Admit it. You were probably wanting us to sign DeShaun Watson.

Considering there is a cap the players have to get their money

All you are promoting is that some get way more than others

As each top guy gets an extra buck a bottom guy looses a buck

    That’s capitalism

Exactly what the owners do but you don’t seem to like that

    Hmm

Glad they got it done at what seems to be a fair price. I thought DJ handled the situation with class. Hope he has a great year.

It's a cap, correct. But that's not the players issue nor concern to figure out. Idk why people want millionaires to take less from billionaires.

It's a freaking cap. Without the cap small town markets can not compete.
If He takes more someone has 2 take less.
    I don't understand what's so hard 2 understand.
That's why I laugh at people say I hope so ,and so gets all the money....So You hate the other players...because if So ,and So gets all the money ...nobody else gets any.

I think the short contract is a brilliant move on DJ's part. It will allow him to negotiate his next contract when he is 29 and not part of the over 30 crowd.

I was hoping for a 4 year Extension and it sounded like Kahn and the Steelers were also trying to lock him down to a long-term deal, but I think I now understand why it was only a 2-year extension.

RB and WRs in their 30s are treated completely different than a 29-year-old player.

Good for DJ, he got what he wanted I assume. Now he needs an absolute breakout season without the on-field mental distractions.

I'm talking about a guy getting paid the market rate for his position comparable to his contemporaries. You can't compare someone at the end of the roster to one of the better guys at his position. And again that's not any players concern about the cap. Thats a front officer concern. The rams somehow keep finding ways to pay all these guys top dollar. There's cap workarounds apparently.

A lot of discussion about this among friends.

One guy asked how can we get our money’s worth with no established QB or OL?

Another guy said let him walk, get the third round compensation pick for him and just draft his cheaper replacement.

One guy criticized the guaranteed money to a WR.

Another guy said we can’t let talent walk and we can afford him with Ben off the roster

Guaranteed money doesn't guarantee anything. Besides, it's not their money, it's come from the fans. Many fans can't afford to go to the games anymore. I'm pro fan. JMO.

There is an old expression; You get what you pay for. Big talent equals big money. You want cheap, I guess you can always go to a USFL or XFL game.

It has completely ruined baseball. That's why seeing the huge contracts for players like Mahomes and Watson most likely won't work out with Superbowl titles anyways.

    IDK

There have been a lot of players who didn’t play up to their contracts after signing an extension

    Woodley Ben ..

The NBA has the strangest cap ever. THE warriors pay a penalty tax nearly equal to the cap. It works for them because they are in tech land, sold out and have reportedly the most expensive tickets and venue prices. They also have sign and trade stuff I just don't understand. In some ways I would like to see a type of % flex in the nfl..your highest O and D players maxed out agsinst the cap at a certain dollar amount...say a per centage against the top 10 or 15 contracts in the league. This gives every team a certain latitude to at least make offers to keep key players they have drafted.

Guaranteed money at signing means you have the money the moment you signed. So jt does mean something. And no. The nfl gives each team like 200+ plus million each year which essentially the salary cap so technically the fans money is going to the organization. Not the players.

I like it. Not the Yankees, dodgers, red sox etc.. fault that teams like the rays, orioles, and pirates can't keep up with them financially.

Apparently you know less about baseball than you do football

There isn’t a TV package and revenue sharing in baseball

Yeehaw. It's always fun watching 4 or 5 teams competing every season and the rest of them there just to sell a few beers and hot dogs. I especially love it when they find some promising young talent and trade them right at the trade deadline for some other new prospects which will take the same route in 2 to 3 seasons.

But the primary reason if salary cap is so the big market teams can't cause a monopoly. Imagine if someone like rams didn't have a cap? They'd have the whole nfc pro bowl probably.

I'm fine with it. If they Can afford it then let them. No different than in college the same teams being good cause they get the top recruits.
