Unfortunately I am leaning this way also, I like DJ but at a certain price. I hope Steelers evaluate this closely.

    :confused1:

You weren't commenting on what advantages the Steelers had that let them win those games.
Or making an opinion about what the games would have been like if those other teams were completely healthy (while the Steelers still had their multiple injuries).

You stated that the actual games played against the Browns and Ravens were not close.

burgfan58 argued that "a lot of those numbers (for DJ) were put up during garbage time with prevent defense schemes".
I don't see how the Browns and Ravens games would fit in that category.

The #Steelers and WR Diontae Johnson have agreed on a two-year, $36.71 million extension, source says. The sides worked last night and this morning to end his hold-in with a shorter deal than we’ve seen from others that allows him to be a free agent again after the 2024 season.

I like this deal, Diontae gets some $$ now (which he has absolutely earned) and the steelers can move on relatively quickly if he doesn’t turn in to the superstar they hope he will.

When you compare this to the insane contract the Jags have to Kirk and some of the other huge WR deals from this summer this is great value for the team IMO.

I don't know about being better, but they are in that 3% of Wrs that have been great without a good Qb. Like AB....Rice always had a good Qb. It is what it is.

I would agree he is not a "True #1"
But now they have 2-years to look at what he can do.
Hopefully the QB's can get the ball to him.

    Wait, isn't it a 3-Year Deal? I think.
I have a text saying: "three-year contract worth $39.5 million"

i get that and was stating the fact that we played two depleted teams twice that year and DJ didn't exactly light them up for us having to come from behind. not that they were blowout games.

    you are correct MJB.

I have to roll my eyes at this signing. Money could have been spent elsewhere at ILB or DE. Bush sucks and Heyward is the only legit DE. Steelers true weakness.

    Here it goes....

I think its a fair deal. Being that Terry McLaurin got 3 years 71 million.

I'd put Dionte up there with McLaurin.

I don't put him the Debo Samuel or DK Metcalf level of pay.

Just got to hope you get the 2021 season Dionte and not the 2020 season one.

I'm not going to moan bout this deal. Think it's about right for him, and the Steelers didn't break the bank. When the money kicks in next year, he'll probably be very much underpaid, if his career is on its current trajectory.

My two cents and that being worth about two cents is that the hold in is done now follow TJ's example and let the play on the field speak for you and ball out this season.

Can't pay em all...Pickens will be one of best in the League, a true no.1! DJ is very good too, but not elite...Austin is supposedly turning heads... Claypool SHOULD be better as the number 3 guy but...He will be the odd man out imo...Again, on the one hand you hope they all play to the potential WE think they have...and if they do, it's gonna be a real good group but......like I said, then you can't pay them all

Happy to see this! Would have preferred 3 years but I’ll take it.

DJ enjoying his new contract. Weird that people don’t like this guy. Hard working good dude and seems genuine.

So which is it? I saw 3 years/$39 mil.

Also said it gives both sides flexibility.
