    He wasn't around when they did so he's being dealt a hand he had no argument against.

    And what you all fail to realize is the steelers aren't the only team in the nfl. If he sees other teams doing for their players what the steelers wont, why should he be forced to quit or play for the steelers as if they are the only team in the nfl?

    Pickens = $2.09 million signing bonus+ $705,000 = $2,795,000
    DJ = $2,790,000

    He can play out his contract be a free agent and go anywhere he wants

    No one is stopping him

    But right now he has a year left that he agreed to of his own free will

    I typed this slowly so it may be easier for you to understand here’s hoping

    Why? Because when you work for somebody else can you play by the rules or you go play somewhere else. And don’t tell me that you’re suggesting there shouldn’t be a draft? I really don’t even know why I’m wasting my time with you I’m pretty sure you’re only here to argue.

    No one is stopping him from choosing to not play this year, making him a restricted free agent next year without the accrued year. That should give him a nice raise.

    Just an idea I had when thinking about how much leverage DJ has - that he could do what Le'Veon Bell did and sit out the season so his contract expires. I think this is possible. But rather than become a free agent he would only have 3 years accrued so he becomes a restricted free agent (RFA) at that point. So Steelers would need to tender him to retain his rights. DJ could field offers from other teams, which the Steelers could match. If the Steelers don't match then they receive the draft compensation based on the tender they place on him - 1st round, 2nd round, original round (DJ was a 3rd). If no team signs him he would be under contract for the tender amount for 2023.

    2022 tenders:
    • Right of First Refusal: $2.433 million
    • Original-Round Tender: $2.54 million
    • Second-Round Tender: $3.986 million
    • First-Round Tender: $5.432 million
    Not saying this is likely - if they don't come to terms I would think a trade would be more likely.

    IDK

    If DJ sits out a year I believe he still owes the team a year at the same terms

    Bell’s contract ran out and they tagged him so he sat out they could have tagged him a second time and they decided he wasn’t worth it

    Second tag is 20% higher than first

    Contract doesn't stipulate how hard he had to play so I don't want hear anyone complain biut him this yr if he isn't all in with no contract since it's purely all about what the contract says.

    Also I'm curious do you have this same energy when teams cut players with years left on contracts?

    Absolutely

    It’s what both sides agreed to when they signed

    The player gets to keep the signing bonus and that’s why it’s fair

    Integrity dictates he should give his best

    You have pointed out you don’t believe in this but most people do

    At least successful people

    Tell me again how you don’t care

    Don’t mind the analyst guy. He’s part of that small percentage of disgusting human beings that thinks it’s ok to have little to no integrity.

    He can't go play somewhere else like he could with any other job.

    He still will get more than what he's getting currently. Yeah let's see him dog it, possibly get hurt, and then he'd get less if he just sat out.

    Last year when T J was working on the sidelines they were diligently working on a contract extension and neither side wanted him to get hurt but keep him involved in the team

    I’m thinking one of two things is happening with D J either they are working on an extension or they are working on a trade keep him involved but not hurt

    Otherwise they would just tell him to practice or put him on the failed to something list and that is not what is happening

    He can go to the XFL or the USFL if he’s not happy with the NFL.

    I don’t think he can just go play in the xfl or usfl while under contract. Also I don’t think he’s unhappy with the nfl. He’s unhappy with the Steelers. It’s a difference. Can people stop making his issue with the Steelers a league wide thing.

    In almost any other job you can quit today and go work for someone else tomorrow. Problem is in his job the organization he works for hampers his ability to go work for another.

    Not true. Ever heard of a non-compete clause? You must enjoy being made to look like a fool as many posters here regularly school your ass.
