I went to the game with my Dad. We had great seats. About 5 rows behind the Browns bench, mixed in with the Browns players wives.. Those ladies abused me something fierce. I wouldn't let my Dad leave and we were the last Steelers fans left in the section.:lolol:

That was the only year that Chuck Noll won NFL Coach of the Year. With Bubby Brister at QB they upset the Oilers in the playoffs and nearly pulled off a major upset the next week in Denver against John Elway's Broncos losing 24-23.

Hard 2 believe Noll never won a coach of the year before that....that's crazy.

Buffalo Bills game I lived about an hour away, we had a teacher who took a bunch of us to the game, he combined the NFL into his math class somehow.

I remember that moment many many times throughout my life. The old Bubby Brister fumble off of quick low snap. My roommate was so drunk he missed the TV by 2 feet on both sides throwing beer bottles at it before I had to tackle him. Woke up the next morning with holes in the walls and broken beer bottles everywhere.

Wanna feel old? Read this thread. lol.

Anyone remember, the Steelers in the "Eastern Conference?"
A guy named Layne as the Steeler QB?
Earnie Stautner and Billy Ray Smith?
Granted I was just a kid with my Dad... it was my first football game.

1983 in Cleveland. We lost, it rained, Bradshaw was injured so it was Woodley or someone at QB. Jack Lambert was out with turf toe so he didn't play either.

Right before half the Steelers went into prevent and let Denver work their way down the field for a field goal

I told everyone there that was going to cost us

    And it did

    I’m almost over that

I was out in the San Juan islands when that game was played and had no way to see or hear it so I did not know the score

The next morning while on a ferry my wife went to get coffee and a paper

When she came back she put the coffee on the table and the paper on the seat next to her

I asked if I could have the sports section and she just said no

Unfortunately, my dad and I were at that game, too. Pap insisted on staying until it was over. "They will make the playoffs" he assured me. Then they got destroyed by the Bengals next week. But they did make the playoffs. Dad was a diehard fan to his core, especially when it came to the Bucs and Steelers.

I remember all of those guys but I only remember Billy Ray Smith when he was an All- Pro with the Colts. He left the Steelers in 1960 so I really don't remember him with us. The big stars when I really starting watching football were John Henry Johnson and Buddy Dial.

This was the season they played the Toronto team in Preseason, 1960.
Saul arrived from the Colts in 64? 63?

Can't remember exactly. It was the early 60's. I think Green bay or Cleveland. We got destroyed, that I remember.

My first game I can remember was the failclowns. And i can't remember who they faced. But i remember bill goldberg hitting head to head with someone and you could hear it echo in the old falcons stadium.

Those guys (Saul's) played at Butler High. All 3 were top notch there.
Ron Saul was part of "The Hawgs" era. I remember him real well. He died in my old stomping grounds, Charles Town WV.
    Rich was the Center.
Bill could do anything basically anything, all sports, and DE/LB in the NFL (though he probably could have been a TE too)

I don't recall much about Butler, I was born south of there McKeesport and lived a short while in Namath's backyard, Beaver Falls which is closer to Butler.
The other reason I remember it was Terry Hanratty. lol....

Somebody once told me Agent 99 (Get Smart) went there too. They might have been yanking my chain because I always clowned around saying she was 'hotter than Jeanie'

Having been a Steelers fan since the late 70s, actually my first game was Steelers vs. Browns with Duck at QB a couple of years ago. Wish Ben would have been able to play, but I saw him at training camp earlier the same year.

I was right there with you - Lou Michaels, Myron Pottios, Clendon Thomas, Ed Brown, Big Daddy, John Henry, Buddy Dial, Preston Carpenter, Brady Keys, Tom The Bomb Tracy. What were there - like 8 teams back then?

It was the Seahawks second season, first game of the season in the Kingdome. I remember how amazing it all looked and seeing Bert Jones (QB of the Baltimore Colts) and Jim Zorn (QB) of the Seahawks. Great memory.

That game was in horrendous wind and rain conditions. If you sat thru the whole game, my compliments.

My dad had season tickets for decades at Rich Stadium/the Ralph/New Era/Highmark. Those late December/January games aware not for the weak.

Don't know, just never went until then. My dad is a Browns fan, and he had never been to a pro game, so he went with us to the same game.
