This belongs in the other section since it’s not not Steelers related

I don’t care and I’m too lazy to go there

Without looking how many of you know where who and when was the first “professional” football game

For a while just shotgun thoughts

I wanted to say in the 1800's but figured slightly before the great war wasn't a bad guess.

I do know July 8th 1933 was the day the Chief started us on this course. Thank you Mr. Rooney and thank you twitter for reminding me.

As we converse I’m reading Art Rooney’s book My 75 years….

I’m still on chapter one which covers the Chief his life and how he became the owner of the “Pirates”

It’s so far an interesting insightful read

Especially for me who lived on the north side

Did you grow up in Pittsburg area

No I was born in Clarion about an hour or so north east of Pittsburgh. My mom and Dad's families are from Marienville which is 20 min drive further. My dad was in the Air Force and we got stationed in the black hole that is North Dakota when I was 3. Still PA is home to mom and dad and me for some strange reason, don't think my brothers or sister think that way but every time I'm there it's like time slows down.

I know Rutgers beat Princeton in the first college game but the NFL I'll guess in 1919 between the Decatur Staley's and the Canton Bulldogs.

Didn’t it involve some guy named Pudge Heflefinger? It was in Pittsburgh in the 1880s, if I remember right,

I have no idea, but it still always comes down to who was better beating off defenders. The basics are still the basics.

The first football game was the Steelers first game in 1933. Nothing before then counts because if the Steelers ain't in it, it ain't real football.

East Forest HS in Marienville average around 13 kids per class so they teamed up with West Forest in Tionesta for their sports teams who have the best nickname in the state, the Forest Fires.

I went to Moniteau also a small country school in the middle of nowhere. Our sports team play Forest in District 9. I started HS in 1969 so your parents aren't much older than me.
