Why would I want the browns to be rid of him?

The Browns would have been better this year with Mayfield. Now they have Watson (who will be suspended at least 10 games). Brissett (Who bounces around everywhere and isn't very good). Josh Dobbs (Not very good as a back up and won't be a starter). I'd say Mayfield with all his faults would have been the Browns best option going into the season. But once again the Browns are going to Brown cause that's what they do best.

the browns being stuck with a disgruntled(rightfully so) mayfield and 18million dollar contract is far better us

Cleveland is still paying $10.5 million of his salary this year.

Browns lose probably there only starting NFL quality QB that can actually play in 2022.

Baker Mayfield trade grades: Browns, Panthers both deserve an 'F' for mutually unhelpful deal

Disgruntled? Maybe but once the season starts he's not going to start throwing Int's and fumbling on purpose. He would try and play his best football that he can while trying to secure a big contract with a new team in 2023. This deal still costs the Browns a truckload of money and what's even better is the Steelers don't have to face him twice or possibly three times a season. You are making him out to be a bigger bust than he actually is. There's a huge drop off between him and Brissett and Dobbs. I actually think Dobbs can win the starting spot for the Stains (if he works his tail off) with Watson's potential long term suspension. If Chubbs gets injured that team is done. Not sure how you can think this is not good for the Steelers. I think the Steelers automatically move up in the early projected standings in the AFCN. To me, Browns are now a 6 win team tops.

The Browns picked Mayfield as the first pick in the entire draft and then have to trade him away for maybe a 4th round pick if he plays 70% of the snaps. Plus pay 10.5 million of his salary this year. Now it looks like they will lose Watson for at least a year.
I was one of the ones who was worried when the Browns signed Watson thinking about facing him, Jackson and Burrow 6 games a year. But then I got to thinking if any team can screw this up it will be the Browns and they screwed it up royally. Good luck to them trying to win 4 games this year with Jacoby Brissett and Josh Dobbs under center.

Baker wasn’t Joe Burrow but wasn’t awful, and with Watson under suspension he was their best option, the others being a journeyman and a backup. They alienated him, and had to pay over $10 million of his salary to get someone to take him. They used a first rounder on him and may well get nothing back.

Only the Browns could **** things up this badly.

Something had me thinking Brissett had beaten the Steelers at least once.

Looked up the stats and he’s 0-3.

dude is 7-1 against the Texans!

Baker for all his faults is head and shoulders better than Rudolph. If all the Browns could get was a fourth, those who think we could get something for Rudolph are high on crack.

Yep. MR seems to be on a similar path as Landry. Cut and then no market for his services. Maybe gets signed as a stopgap for a team in desperate need of a BU.

Mason is saying all the right things to get another shot at a starting job and looked good at the OTAs. I could see him easily starting in Seattle this year. He was rated as the 4th best backup QB in the league last year.

I can’t believe steeler fans actually think he will be traded. There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell they go into the season with trubisky and 2 rookies

Seriously? Do you have a source for that and what was the rating based on? I've got to call BS on MR being the 4th best BU in the league. That's almost comical.

I think I posted a link to it here last year. I am not sure how to search for it.

But the NFL.COM website had Mason ranked as the 6th best backup in the league.

Funny, I would be curious to see what he is ranked this year if it is Mitch, Rudolph, and then Kenny.

HELL. what is even funnier about that list from NFL.COM; Mitch Trubisky did not even make their Top 10 for backup QBs in the league. He is listed all the way down in the bottom as part of the "Also Considered" section. :)

Funny.. that NFL.com snippet was after the 2020 season. “Can be counted on to produce in a one game scenario.” Then the Lions game happened. One game scenario vs. the worst team in the league.

Said it before and I'll say it again.

The fact that the Steelers signed Trubisky and then went ahead and drafted not one, but two, QBs says it all about what they think about MR.

I definitely have 2 agree with this.
After what happened that one year with Ben going down, and all they had left was Mason, and Duck....I think they don't do that again.
