And what rule is that? Staying out of the headlines?

Say he is innocent, not likely, but how is that fair then?

I'm just imagining some team on the DL slipping some fake stories to the media to get a one up on some other team if all it takes is a headline to take a player down?

If he is guilty he deserves it, but I think a court of law needs to determine it first. Otherwise, nothing nefarious happened and he shouldn't be punished for it.

He was using Houston Texans $$$ to break NFL rules. He was essentially on Texans time working on his fetish game. 0 way 24 people were lying; if this was 1 or 2 people I'd be more liable to want to defend Watson on this. Just because he wasn't criminally charged doesn't mean he didn't conduct business that was detrimental to the sport. He's been a PR nightmare this past year and his own lawyer and himself aren't helping themselves in the eyes of the court of public opinion.

I'm not defending Watson, he probably isn't innocent, but what happened to innocent until proven guilty?

I know that is not the NFL's policy, but I think it should be. Court of public opinion can be wrong, and as we have seen Goodell's discipline hasn't always gotten it right.

If he is guilty in the court of law let the hammer come down, but so far that isn't the case.

Because of this whole conduct policy the NFL now has to have a private investigation team working for them. That shouldn't be the business they are in. Let the law handle it.

Innocent until proven guilty doesn't apply in the workplace. He settled in 20 of the cases. If you or I done this using our company time and money, we would be fired for sexual harassment regardless of what the state does.

They decided not to prosecute criminal charges, and civil trials haven't even occurred to determine any kind of guilt.

He is a contract employee. You and I might be be fired, but it doesn't work that way for him.

I like the fact that if this happens, he doesn't get to just comeback in a year automatically. Next year when hopefully all the cases are closed, he will be able to petition the NFL for his reinstatement.

Eventually I am assuming he is going to admit fault and he may even enter himself into some type of therapy program to show the NFL that he deserves to be reinstated.

Depending on what happens in the Civil cases, criminal charges could still be filed.

He settled in 20 of 24 cases meaning he has to pay potential victims a nice chunk of change. Most civil cases of the magnitude always gets settled out of court. It's really his own fault for not protecting himself. As opposed to going to actual massage parlors or even AMP (for that matter) he went to Instagram and met these women at their homes or hotel rooms with zero chance of witnesses to verify he did nothing wrong. I doubt he sexually assaulted all 24 of these women, but this amount is far too many to ignore. It wouldn't surprise me if even more women come forward, hence this being an indefinite suspension of at least a year, leaving the door open for a longer suspension.

At the very least He paid for getting His funny bone tickled, and I do believe in most states that's a crime.
Believe Me I wish it wasn't, but it is.

What businesses are we talking about? If they had their druthers Texans and Browns would rather he played.

I don’t know, maybe we are just in a different era, I don’t recall Kobe missing anytime for his allegations?

I’m just sick of Goodell’s discipline policy, which always seems arbitrary and never timed well. I hope the players union fights to change that.

Trevor Baur got suspended for two years and wasn't convicted of a crime.

As for Kobe Bryant, he had 1 accuser as opposed to 24 with the potential of 66.

Kobe's case was 19 years ago. His might have been one of the cases that got sports to toughen up on COC. Besides, NBA-NFL. Different leagues.

The NFL is a business and has a code of conduct policy that covers everyone(coaches, owners, trainers…).the players union has agreed to the stricter code of conduct policy on more than one occasion. It’s been revamped and made stricter 2-3 times since 1997.
