It didn't help that David Johnson completely whiffed on the block .

You do know Green Bay was favored to win that SB? They lost to Dallas in XXX by double digits, and lost to Green Bay by six points hmmmmm.

If he would have held onto the ball like he has held onto his shame and guilt all of these years just maybe we could have won that game. He had a lot of talent but he never seemed to have the heart for the game. I think that Super Bowl took it all out of him.

Oh so it's Ben's fault when someone misses a block, and He gets stripped sacked from behind (your words from the Jags game), but not Mendenhalls fault when He gets hit ,and fumbles it???
    Isn't that a double standard???

Rodgers made everybody look foolish. That game was only close because the Packers kept dropping passes.

The 10 point loss was because of NOD twice. Dallas was a dynasty. Green Bay was not a dynasty. If mendenhall doesn’t fumble Aaron Rodgers never gets a ring. I am sure Dallas was a bigger favorite. Super bowl XXX was a far more competitive game. The Steelers played with a lot of heart that day.

You are correct. David Johnson blew his block................. and then Mendenhall fumbled. Mendenhall fumbled. He fumbled and cost us our last chance to win that game. I hope it haunts him. Hell, when I look back it haunts me. @noexcuses

It's not quite that black and white. The Steelers were underdogs in both games. The Packers were favored by 3. The Cowboys were favored to win by 13.5! That is quite a substantial difference.

In XXX the Steelers played a great game. Outside of a couple of horrible NOD moments, the Steelers put themselves in a position to nearly pull off something, that just about everyone thought was impossible.

In XLV the Steelers did not play a great game. Ben, Mendenhall, the line, the defense, Wallace, and even Tomlin all share blame for what was a sloppy effort. Mendenhall takes the brunt of the blame because he killed the Steelers last, best, chance.

If we scored we would be up 24-21 with near a quarter to play. Maybe that inspires the defense to play even better who knows. Big A rod finished with 3 tds, 300 yards and 111 rating.

let’s say we score 24-21. Then AAron scores so it’s 24-28. Can Big Ben lead a comeback?

It’s not like it was 20 seconds left and we fumbled near the goal line ya know?

It makes no sense to claim that Super Bowl XXX was more competitive than Super Bowl XLV. The Steelers were within four points going into the fourth quarter against the Packers. They trailed by 13 going into the fourth quarter against the Cowboys. They were pulled within three points and had the ball late in the fourth quarter in both. They blew those opportunities with turnovers in both.

I understand why people felt better about Super Bowl XXX. They were huge underdogs. O'Donnell was an easy scapegoat, but that doesn't mean he doesn't count as part of the team.

No doubt, both games were competitive. Overall, the Steelers as a team played better in XXX IMO.

NOD wasn't just an easy scapegoat. He was a deserving one.

The Steelers had all the momentum. I remember thinking at the time, that if the Steelers score there they would go on to win the game.

You make a good point. There would have been plenty of time for Rodgers to answer had the Steelers scored. Who knows what would have happened? Thanks to Mendenhall we will never know.

They lost the turnover battle in both games, SB XXX wasn't a more competitive game.

I have an older brother who taught me one thing by default. Trying to BS the old man was a fruitless and at times painful endeavor. He once took my dad's Grand Prix without permission. I didn't go home for several hours. I didn't want to be collateral damage.

Point taken. Mendenhall is an ass. You fumbled, Rashard. Plain and simple. You want respect? Then own it.

No doubt about it. Losing to declining Cowgirls was far worse. I thought we were going to win that game until O`Dummy threw the second horrific pick to the same wide open defender again. About 4 minutes left we have the ball and momentum and look unstoppable to get at least the tying score. No such situation against the Pack.

Sickening loss. Losses like that remind me of losers like Mendenhall who never belonged on our team.

The cross Atlantic translation failed me reading this and for a moment I thought you were Niki Lauda

(Though that Grand Prix was in 1976 so should have realised lol)
