He’s played in the slot, ND moved him all over. His senior year he played mostly outside though.

I agree he can do some damage in the slot but the Steelers will probably move him around still.

According to the article he’s someplace between 35th and a marginal special teams player

    Just gonna post this here:

He even beat Humphrey 1 on 1 here.

He still has great potential and I, for one, am optimistic about his future contributions to the team. At least he recognized his shortcomings last year and said he is working on them.

Whatever he said means nothing, Its a big prove it year for Claypool. This will be his 3rd season.

Needs to shut his trap and put in the work.

I feel Pickens will outshine him.

Thats what Gentry is for. I feel like they will use Friermuth a lot in seam routes this year and of course the red zone.

Claypool predicted 14 touchdowns for last year he scored 2

    Now he is predicting 10

Even he is lowering his expectations of himself

    I can’t argue

He claims he is a top 3 receiver

He may not even be top 3 on this team

Top 3 is pretty lofty. Just off the top of my head; Kupp, Jefferson, Ja’Marr, Diggs, Tyreek will all likely finish ahead of him. I say he makes top 10.

Wishful thinking there. I agree with previous poster he may not be #3 receiver on the team.

For top 10? Not really. I forgot Adams so thats another one but who else? McLaurin, Lamb maybe Pittman. He can definitely finish top 10. He had 800 yards with terrible QB play last season. People act like he had 250 yards.

Blast, we won't see eye to eye here. I think you are letting your ND fandom effect your opinion of Chase. There is zero chance Claypool ends up a top 10 Receiver.

I think he can make improvements over last season. Improvement in play, doesn't necessarily translate to big numbers. He can play significantly better and end up putting up smaller numbers. DJ is going to put up top 10 stats. He is the Steelers most complete route runner. Because of this he is going to get more targets than the rest of the bunch. I think it is fair to assume that Pickens will cut into Claypool's targets as well. So like I said. Claypool may show moderate improvement, but end up putting up smaller numbers.

All I am hoping for is that Claypool, keeps his head on straight, and becomes more of an asset than a liability. He was the later in 2021. To say he has top 10 potential is beyond optimistic.

I’m letting what he has shown in the NFL dictate my opinion. I swear reading the posts here you would think the guy has been a complete bust. He had a very good rookie year, followed that up with a let down but still was only a couple hundred yards short of a 1,000 with terrible QB play and horrible offensive game plan.

Claypool will go over 1,000 yards this season, book it. I think this receiving corps is very good. DJ and Claypool will both go over a 1,000 and Pickens around 800 yards. I think Pickens has a very Claypool like first season and have around 10 TD’s.

I think some people here just don’t like Claypool because of his mouth, don’t like the things he says not to mention the fight he got into. He has tons of talent.

He had a very good half of a rookie year, and has slowly gone downhill ever since. I agree with you about the talent. He just needs to put it all together.

You bring up QB play. We are all assuming that Trubisky/Pickett are going to be an improvement over Ben. Hopefully that is true. But Trubisky hasn't been very good up unitil this point, and Pickett is a rookie. For as much as any of use know, 8 games into the season we may all end up wishing Ben played one more year.

I could see 1000 yards being a legit goal. Top 10 in the league is a bit of a stretch IMO.

i'm hoping it goes something like this. miller will be working his tail off and austin, claypool, DJ and pickens make each other better and at different points will make defenses panic in who to double. i hope not one certain guy becomes a #1. collectively they all shine. muth and najee will also add to a defenses woes. we should have a guy open nearly every play with this group and it will be up to the QB to distribute to that open guy on any given play.

Don't know why people think Claypool deserves so much hate. He's one of those players that if the Steelers let go for peanuts then he will prove to be a big time player on some other team. He has way too much upside to be tossing to the curb.

@Disco1981 Man, you are still making a living off that Cosmo Claypool bit. It seems like it is in syndicated reruns now.
