I always thought I was the top like giver on the board. Then STD came along and blew me out of the water. Keep them coming @S.T.D . Even when my stuff is garbage, it's nice to get one like. It is kind of like being a kid and having your Mom tell you you drew a nice picture. :lolol:

Good to have this deal done. He’s the highest paid safety right now, but a year or two down the road it will be a great deal as salaries escalate.

    Exactly!

For anyone that thinks this is a bad contract, imagine what this secondary would be like WITHOUT Minkah....:eek::eek:

I doubt DJ thought he was going to get a new contract before Minkah, if the Steelers want to give DJ a new contract they can make it work with the cap.

Minkah was All-Pro in two of his three years with the Steelers, he also led the team in tackles last season.

TJ was the highest paid defensive player for less than a year, the next good safety that signs an extension will probably get more than Minkah.

I also saw him make tackles last season that the sorry ILBs didn't make, I think Minkah led all DBs in the league in tackles last season.

It is a lot of money but he did lead the league in tackles at his position. Might be a bit of a gamble but nothing compared to some taken by our neighbors up North.

Lot of money tied up on two guys that so far in their career do nothing to affect the outcome of playoff football games. Nice regular season players however so it’s fits in well with this teams main goal.

That was already witnessed. From 2015-2018, that is what the secondary would have played like. That is why when you have special talents on the backend, you sign them long term.

This statement is very reminiscent of what you stated about that Minkah trade back in September of 2019.

Steelers Fans: We Never Trade For Good Players!!

Also Steelers Fans: That Player Is Too Expensive To Trade For!!

I believe it was something along these lines?!

Would you rather we didn’t have those two guys?
And didn’t Watt have a strip sack return for a TD in a playoff game last year against Kansas City?

Minkah is a solid player but this board over rates him to a degree. Since the Duck 8-8 season where he single handily won us several games with huge plays he has been good but not great. I like the guy just like Watt they are both good players obviously. The problem is tying up that much money in these two who come playoff time really don’t influence the outcome of a game much. The money could be used to get a huge FA QB instead of a journeyman and long shot draft pick. That would possibly make a difference in turning this stagnant franchise into a contender again. That and firing a certain untouchable coach. If anyone on this board thinks we can contend with teams like Buffalo or Cincy or KC even Denver now because we have TJ Watt and Minkah to go along with Mitch Trubisky once again I don’t even know what to say. I guess another season with 0 playoff wins will be ignored around here as usual. We could not win a playoff game for 20 years and this place would still love tomlin and the organizations trajectory.
