I use the Amazon fire stick a lot.
*Note: Thanks to the wife being a Buyer and a having a free Amazon Prime account
But it turned on the light for me on getting rid of cable TV (ComCast) or Satellite TV (Direct TV - which sux)
Where it gets you though is all the app purchases. That's where you can wind up paying more than you do for cable.
For example, if you like "The Walking Dead" then you have to subscribe to AMC... etc.
And the sports app has also been mentioned.

Now I am the kind of guy who cannot "Pirate" those as I would be in constant paranoia of SWAT teams swinging in on ropes through all my windows as well as Stormtroopers crashing in the front door all carrying weapons of mass destruction.
    OR
More likely while mowing my lawn with a cold beer in hand, stopping by the mailbox and opening a letter that says they are suing me for $1.5 million dollars for illegally pirating those apps.

On the Firestick, the game is always highlighted on the opening screen, so I'm not getting the issue? :hmm:
Roku kind of sux, you think you're getting the game but it's not the game, it is some a**hole talking about the game.

So, I really haven't solved the entire cable/dish issue....
But I did pay the $$$ to get the app to allow me to see whatever I want if I am not going to the actual game.
This keeps me out of sports bars and saves me from going broke from buying beer and wings.

As much as I hate Direct TV I still stay with them for the Sunday NFL ticket package. My buddy tried to help me navigate a fire stick and in the end it was more stressful than it was worth.

Unless you get one of those high falutin "smart tvs" with all of those apps already on it.

I’m as low tech as they come but I thought the fire stick was what you used if your tv doesn’t have the apps

Funny part is you made me look.

My tv is like 8 years old but I did find Netflix and Amazon apps on it and after entering the appropriate login info they did work.

    Thank you.

Yeah, much easier route than the Firestick or Chrome cast, both of which I use for certain apps not able to be installed on the t.v.

Not necessarily. If you have an even remotely up-to-date TV Then it is probably a smart TV. That app is on their plus plenty more.

Next I’m going to learn to get the menu by asking my phone to look at a black and white square on the table

Nah I’ll just ask for a paper one as usual

I will never do that when it comes to scrolling a bar code. It's these little things that ultimately limit jobs. Went to a restaurant in Fla while on vacation and they had a robot bringing our food to us. That's a good way for me not to revisit the establishment. All the little kids thought it was so cute but little do they know. I heard several people around speak out about eliminating a position.

The bar code menu may not seem too big a deal but it can eliminate 3 or 4 or maybe even more jobs. Waitress by less staffing needs, Printing company employee, Paper company employee, Delivery driver employee, ect... Yet the prices continue to rise.:icon e confused:

OK I'll get off my high horse now but remember ............Stay off my lawn!;)

I totally agree, but I wish someone would come trample my lawn down. 3 freaking hour for me 2 mow....on a riding lawnmower.....it's freaking ridiculous.

Mine takes me the same amount of time and I mostly find it peaceful. I can send my 14 year old over and he can turn it into a dirt track like he did my front lawn Saturday afternoon if that would help.

Havasu is like the surface of the moon! East county San Diego is a lot of scrub brush, sage, wild flowers. The soil in Santee is uniquely suited to growing rocks!

I drove on Highway 8 in San Diego. Never seen Huge rocks balancing on top of much smaller rocks before in my life. Gravity is pretty strange there.

It's been about 30 years but if I do visit Cali again San Diego is an viable destination. Oakland, San Fran, LA not so much.
