I agree with this.... Gildon would be at #11. Gildon was more consistent than Woodley, but Woodley was more explosive in his prime years.

Yeah plus we had Chad at MLB who went onto play for Seattle. We had another good MLB in the 80’s who went to play for Minnesotat as well. I forget his name.

I used to love Levon Kirkland as a kid at MLB. It was like watching a DT play MLB.

But for a big huge guy he could move.

You know this exercise for Steelers CB’s would be next to impossible. Beyond the top two I don’t even know who I would put three.... maybe Ike Taylor.

It's hard when you're grouping pass rushers with off-ball LB's but if we're going to do that then Farrior moves to #5 and slide everyone down one.

I would argue that James Farrior was one of the Steelers best ever FA signings. Right up there with Jeff Hartings.

I like the list with Merriweather added..
    Gotta have Russell too..

Pittsburgh has always had very good LB's.... there are many I liked.
Of course, "The Count" is my favorite...

Maybe Ryan Shazier would have had consideration if not for the damn injury.

Also we always leave Andy Russell off list. I think it is because he spent a good portion of his career on the 60 Steelers.

You are being ridiculous. Jarvis Jones easily belongs in the 550s.

I am a bit confused by the standards of the list. Best all time list IMO is different than the list. As some said...so n so was better in their prime.

If we talking in prime the list changes

All time... you have to have Gildon towards the top. I would probably put TJ lower just because he is in the middle of his career. But then again he will most likely be the all time sack leader by he end of the year. So maybe 3 is to low

If you talking in their Prime then Kendrell Bell needs to be there IMO

I'll just add this name... as one of my favorite

BRYAN HINKLE. I got the privilege of hanging out with him one day, bit long after he retired. He told me 12 teams contacted him about playing for them, but he retired instead. His reason.

"The only thing I ever wanted to be was a Pittsburgh Steeler, I couldn't imagine putting on a different jersey, nothing else meant anything... no amount of money. If the Steelers didn't want me any more.. then I didn't want to play any more"

Good list. I would move Harrison to second (as strong as he was and the ability to set the edge) and I would move Farrior to fourth (because he was all around solid and cost little), certainly Lambert is #1 if for no other reason than sheer intimidation.

Artie Burns would probably make that list! That's how bad we've historically been at that position.

I thought about Russell and Gildon, we just have so many it was hard to narrow the list down to 10. To me this list was about player impact on the Steelers team over the course of their career. Sure their were ones who had major impact in a short time period like Kendrell Bell but they did not sustain it long enough. Gildon was the toughest one. Sure he produced consistently year over year and had a lot of sacks but honestly when you think of Steelers Linebackers he is not one of the first ones that comes to mind. He is like the friend in the room that nobody notices he is there. Who on that list are you going to put Gildon in front of? With Watt I had to put him above Harrison. IN his short career so far he has done more consistently than Harrison had done. Farrior I probably should have put above Kirkland. Other than that I am happy with the list.

Wow he’s worse than Jarvis I looked it up lol. He was so bad he was pretty much immediately cut and his career was over.

TJ's great. But the young buck still needs to claw his way up that list.

You’d have to broaden it to DBs. Then the Glen Edwards love can abound again
