So it really is just James Harrison that gets the repeated offender suspension?????

I'm really not surprised. The hit on Saunders didn't warrant any suspension IMHO.

Thats my problem...its not that Reed got off...I don't think the hit was so bad suspensions should be handed out....but It is THE EXACT SAME THING that James Harrison did get suspended for....and his appeal got nothing.

They told Harrison learn to play within the rules.....They told Ed Reed...ah...be careful.

Mixed feelings on this, I think these suspensions and fines are ridiculous but in the name of fairness, rules are rules, our boys are being punished. What probably pisses me off most is that when it's us, media says we are dirty but when it's Reed, there was outrage all over the networks today. Whats more, as a Steeler fan, would have been helpful not having him on the field against SD this week. :bscow:

I think the Ravens will handle the Chargers with or without Reed.

I've read that SD gives the Ravens trouble, I recall SD giving the Colts trouble during the Peyton days but can't recall how much Baltimore struggles with them. I'm just hoping they are right:praying:

SD is a very different team this year than in past years. Rivers is downright awful and Ryan Matthews has forgotten how to play football.

Think objectionably for a minute. You suspend this player for repeated violations of the rules. This player is constantly bad mouthing you to the media. That players appeal then goes through your office. Honestly, does anyone here think they will be able to be completely unbiased in regards to this player? I know I wouldn't, and yes, I know the commissioner should excuse himself and his office from the appeal if he can't be unbiased, but that's not real life, even if it should be. The reality is that Harrison has been his own worst enemy for years now. I hate the rules as much as the rest of you do, but they are in place and need to be followed. Harrison violated those rules many times, and on top of that he blasted Goodell many times in the media, including saying he wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire. That alone is going to hurt any chance he had of having his suspension overturned, not to mention that it's extremely unprofessional and idiotic to say the things he did (not just about Goodell).

Then you need to take into account the actual hits themselves. Was Ed Reed's most recent hit overly flagrant? No, not at all. The hit by Harrison against Colt McCoy was pretty damn flagrant and did result in an injury to McCoy. There's a big difference right there. Just because both hits violate the rules doesn't mean they are both deserving of the same punishment. Believe me, a punch to the face is far less severe than my stomping on your head when you're lying on the ground, yet both are assault. Same offence doesn't always result in the same punishment, nor should it.

We are not being picked on as a franchise. The Steelers are a model franchise as far as the NFL is concerned and the Rooney's are one of the most influential and respected families in the NFL. It's slightly personal with Harrison, but that's it, it's not personal with the franchise as a whole

No no no no, that's b.s. You don't get to say well his hit didn't look as bad as his hit, you're opening a can of worms. You have to stay consistent and Reeds hit was H2H and he is a repeat offender. You also contradicted yourself. On the one hand you say we aren't being targeted and on the other you say JH did it to himself with his comments. Sure sounds like he was targeted then doesn't it?

So now I am lead to wonder what happens the next time Ryan Clark gets flagged for helmet to helmet contact. Are they going to do the same thing to him and suspend him? And if they do, will they overturn the suspension like Reeds was, or will it be some other excuse? The facts are the facts....the media was crying over this and made a huge deal of it, therefore we have an overturned suspension. As long as they stay consistant its one thing, but I think we have seen the inconsistancy way to many times. We may lose Clark for a game or 2 before the season is over.

i'm honestly not surprised one bit they lifted his suspension and gave him just one fine. it isn't his first head shot, but still, it's just a tiny slap on the wrist. i mean look at James Harrison. he got a suspension for being a repeat offender but he appealed it and it got reduced to just one tiny fine.

    oh, wait...

Harrisons hit on McCoy was a hit on a RUNNER....where helmet to helmet is legal....McCoy flipped the ball right as Harrison was coming in to hit him turning him back into a QB..he was already committed to the tackle when McCoy flipped the ball .....Harrisons previous hit on Massaquoi was exactly the same as the Reed hit thats being let go....MoMass is ducking and changed his target area while Harrison was initially targeting his chest.
