When you’re so blinded by your hatred of someone anything they say is annoying and stupid.

That saying really applied to Melvin Ingram, he wasn't even with the team that long and he was complaining about his role.

I agree with the mantra of volunteers vs. hostages, but at some point you have to hold a bad teammate hostage to make a point to the rest of them team. I am guessing Trubisky wished he had waited longer in free agency now.

You think the Steelers were happy after they allowed themselves to be bamboozled by LeGarrette Blount?

I think you missed my point entirely. I agree with you about Ingram. But just because trading him was the right course of action in that instance, does not mean that is the right course of action in all instances.

    Oh.....

I believe you are misinterpreting what I classify as "intriguing" here; rather what I am defining the term to be.

I may take the saying as a stab against bill belicheck....
Man I was with you for the first bit. There are sooooo many variables in a given situation. Even if you remove the human part, which moves more than a strippers hips, there are so many factors.

"The run a team by" is where I may pull back. I think a good atmosphere and attitude breathe life into work ethic. If you want to be there you care to make it work and that may even only be temporary.

However, it is a general statement that can't always apply. In this business that is contract based you do get locked into "being there." So, I generally think the saying fits but it's not a banner youre slapping in the locker room on the way out to the field.

I suppose we're on the same page but I just don't fault the statement at the time when it was apparently applicable. As you said, maybe the next time it doesn't apply.

when players volunteer to sign with a team and then decide to sign with a team that has a better chance to get to a super bowl, it can also set a bad precedence for future volunteers. you sign guys to make your team better then allow them to weaken your team by giving them a pass. the saying may be noble but the outcome doesn't help.

Maybe I'm being mean but i do enjoy seeing players leave the Steelers thinking the grass is greener elsewhere and fail miserably.
    Right LBell?
    Right Speedy Mike Wallace?

I can't really say much either way.
"Chemistry" is the word for me.

2 coaches that immediately come to mind.

Chuck Noll who was a players coach, built a nice chemistry with some very unique players... of course Art Rooney was a player in that too.
    Players wanted to play here.

Joe Gibbs. He had a knack for getting more out of lesser skilled players by getting them to play as team. And those players policed themselves among the ranks.
If you did something stupid that hurt the team, they were waiting on you to get things straight and it usually worked out.

Some could add Bill Patriots guy.... I might agree. He runs a camp similar to Paris Island back in my days... ever dig a hole with a sledgehammer? lol

But I look at a guy like Antonio Brown or Bell.
Those guys were in an offense that allowed them to shine, they had the keys to the city.... still it went sour.
You just need to deal with it I guess. Maybe try to work it out.

In a case like Kirk Cousins, you had a scummy GM (Bruce Allen) who couldn't even get his name right. I would play for that creep either.
So, two sides of the coin I guess.

This post reminds me of the tide pod challenge. In that the people bitching about the tide pod challenge were the people that raised the kids eating tide pods.

I personally like the “if you don’t want to be here hit the road, jack” approach by Coach Tomlin. If you don’t want to fully commit to the greatest franchise in the history of sport then bug off!

I just don’t like the precedent it
This is the stupidest idea I have ever heard.

Parody is what makes the NFL great.

You eliminate the draft, some team with deep pockets is going to just win every year. A well run team like Steelers will do okay, but it will put us at a severe disadvantage trying to acquire talent. It will be much harder to succeed.

I hate seeing players cut and run too. Blount literally walking out on the Steelers was a spineless move. If every player that is unhappy gets to walk out on teams, how is that good for the stability of the NFL?

I don’t want to get to a point where players are corroborating ways to form super teams like the NBA. I think it is bad for the spirit of competition.

Actually I’ll go one step further. I don’t think teams should be able to trade draft picks. It kills the parody the NFL is trying to create. Teams like the Patriots are then able to work the system and wind up with multiple first round picks for multiple years. Stupid teams wind up getting rid of draft picks for a year on bad trades.
