He lost his passion to play football. It’s obvious this isn’t just an injury or they wouldn’t be so coy about it.

Losing his brother has clearly messed him up and I’m not going to sit here and judge anyone for how they deal with death.

It’s not like the Steelers are going to be caught with their pants down, they have options. Just none as good as Tuitt.

You have your family, at home, and you have your family in Pitt on the field that by all accounts IS a family. You should not let your brethren down in the heat of battle if you’re physically able to go. It’s decision time, the conflict is now.

Gut feeling here is that if he hasn't made up his mind by now, his mind is made up that he's not coming back.

If Tuitt is indeed done I wish him well and hope he finds some peace and relief from the pain he is struggling with.
When all three of Heyward, Alualu and Tuitt were healthy they formed one of the better three man fronts in the league.

True. Pickett sat out the Peach bowl to prepare for the NFL and played the Senior bowl. He wasn’t the only one BTW. Tuitt has missed the entire pre season, season and post season. Very costly to our team. Pickett missed the battle, Tuitt not only missed the battle(s), he missed the War!

Regardless of the past, we’ll need both to show.

Thought this was a good answer by Bob in his Q&A. Tuitt and the Steelers don’t have to satisfy fans curiosity.

RICHARD SANTRY FROM ALLENDALE, NJ: This whole Stephon Tuitt waiting game is getting a little old. Even as a Notre Dame grad myself, I find it annoying that a fellow alumnus is leaving the Steelers hung out to dry. Is there a time frame involved here and more importantly, why are Kevin Colbert and Mike Tomlin allowing this? Is there something in the Collective Bargaining Agreement that's protecting him?

ANSWER: Except for you wanting to have your curiosity satisfied, I don't understand why this would annoy you. With rosters set at 90 players, there is no urgency to create space, and even if there was some urgency, exactly which currently unsigned player do you believe is as important to the team's success in 2022 as Stephon Tuitt? How do you know that Steelers President Art Rooney II is being hung out to dry? How do you know whether the Steelers feel any animosity in the way Tuitt is handling this situation? How do you know that they don't know more than they're saying publicly right now? While under contract, Tuitt is not getting paid at this stage of the NFL calendar, and the Steelers obviously don't believe his salary cap hit currently poses a problem to the team being able to do the business it wants to do.

if we get another season like this past one out of wormley is tuitt needed? we have several new players on the D-Line to watch this year. will one or two rise to the top? will loudermilk progress? production on the field should determine his future and at this point he is not living up to his contract numbers, if they can afford it or not.

Wormley makes the occasional big play and he's not a bad pass rusher, but he is not a strong run defender. He is a big downgrade from a healthy, focused Tuitt. Of course, we may never again see a healthy, focused Tuitt, but Wormley is not on his level.

wormley last season was very close to tuitts best season. the numbers are what they are. if wormley builds on the last season we will have to look at this harder. perception against actuality. as i said IF wormley builds on his last season.

The run defense's numbers are what they are, too. I'm sorry you don't either couldn't see that Wormley was part of that problem or you refuse to acknowledge it because it flies in the face of your chosen narrative. The guy is a fine backup, but in no way does he make Tuitt expendable.

i disagree. tuitt has made himself expendable. the run defense numbers are what they are but to blame one guy for it and praise another that never stays on the field or hasn't shown the stats that prove he's so much better is quite short sighted. tuitt of a few years back , this may have been true but wormley's arrow is pointing up as of last year and tuitt's is going the other direction. you don't think alualu not being on the field had anything to do with those numbers dropping? how about bush's play last year?
