He’s a great kid, high character. I obviously think they chose the wrong QB but hopefully it works out for them.

I saw Willis against Army. He just did not look like 1st rounder to me. More of a Logan Thomas 'intangibles' kinda player. I can see why he dropped.

Yeah, but the first round pick is an opportunity to get a guy who is as "can`t miss" as possible and likely to start throughout his rookie contract and possibly more. Pickett ain`t that.

I wish we could get an explanation from management. It`s almost as if Tomlin said "Damn it, ain`t one elite player left in the draft, might as well roll the dice on Pickett because Trubisky kind of sucks."

Whooie! Now we got three #2 QB`s. We got plenty of backup to go for 9-8 or maybe we don`t go 9-8 because we don`t get any help from the #1 pick.

Never rule out an in-season trade to save Tomlin from a losing season.

At least they didn't draft Willis, or Ridder in the first round.

Maybe all that Willis hype was just a smokescreen, it seems like Pickett was the #1 QB on their board.

Close! Oh so close. Can’t believe Saints or someone else didn’t take Pickett first. Truly think Willis would be a Steeler right now if someone had.

He has a killer arm and good speed/elusiveness. Just too much bad tape to be considered in the first. Nothing about his play screamed "special". He may very well turn out to be a good player, but there just isn't much about his game that shouts "worth a first round pick". I did think he was going to be drafted in the late first, but I'm sure he's gone in the second. Either way he will still get his shot.

Tomlin wanted one player over the other?

    Not according to this vid.

Again... has anyone ever seen Tomlin this ecstatic about a pick? Closest would have been Shazier but not to this degree.

Yeah he seems like a great kid. Falling to the second round wont matter much. He still will sit a year or two, but will still have a shot with whatever team ends up selecting him. I'm just glad we weren't the one gambling on him.

True. He looked and sounded nothing but ecstatic to be making that call to Kenny. By the looks of it Kenny was pretty happy himself haha I think its a great fit.

Hey, I'm cheering for Trubisky as well. They just invested a first round pick in Pickett though haha I think he is considered the main option long term for the team. Doesn't mean I don't hope that Trubisky lights it up and revitalizes his career in Pittsburgh before he hands the reigns to Kenny :)

Wow, I'm shocked at the pick, given how thirsty Tomlin looked for Willis ... I don't know if I would have taken a QB this year, or at least in first round, but I'm hoping for the best.

I too am jealous of that Ravens Linderbaum pick, wow. Typical Ravens pick ... and they almost had Jordan Davis if Eagles hadn't swooped in.

I would have loved to have seen Steelers take Tyler Linderbaum or Devin Lloyd.

Not going to lie though, when Pickett rolls to his right it reminds me of a young Ben.

It's fun reading back through past draft threads when people are losing it over this year's picks. Here's a greatest hit from 2017...

If KC takes Watson will that mean they're gonna try and get rid of Alex Smith?

Im loving this run on offense
Man me too! KC moved up so Another QB could be coming off the board!

Not sure Watson would be ready to play for a couple years

Chiefs have to be taking Watson

wow that's a big jump for KC!!

    Kansas City trading up?
    DeShaun Watson comfirmed?
    ... Or someone else?

So the Chiefs traded this year's 3 and next year's 1 and 3 for this pick? I think I read that right.

Huge! Whoever this is he isn't worth 2 number 1 picks

What the hell is going on??

Add Cincinnati and KC to the stupidity list hahahahaa

Pat Mahomes? Project QB behind Alex Smith

WOW! You kidding me? Man im just not sure Mahomes will get the NFL game

    Craziness

    wow Mahomes

Didn't we have a meeting with Mahomes?

I mean, he's good at Madden.

Wow just wow... I seriously know even less than I thought about prospects...I thought he'd be lucky to go in the third

    ...AND fantasy!

    Mahomes 10th overall is insane

Mahomes for two 1st rounders is franchise suicide

Let's face it. It's fun to yack about the draft. But sitting on the couch drinking beer and watching some game film doesn't make us draft experts. Hell, even the pros that spend 12 months a year eating, breathing and sleeping know just a bit more than we do. I bet a drunken monkey would pick as well as many NFL GMs. This is like picking stocks. So let's just be happy we have the top rated QB in the draft and a not yet washed up former first rounder to compete for the starting job. This is a numbers game. Like playing the lotto. The more tickets you have, the more chances you have to win.

Judging by various posts, one would think that the Rats found the missing pieces to a SB title and not grade B-D players
