"Living in a van down by the river"! Mayfield better be careful parking near the putrid Cuyahoga, it catches on fire from time to time.

Agree. Sports Journalism is a thing of the past. I call it, TMZ reporting - what they don't know they make up.
I have stood, right next to an athlete, listened to the questions, then pick up the paper the next day and see the answers that I personally saw and heard, used in totally different context.
And I am seeing just that with the Johnson contract.

Have not seen how Mayfield rates overall, but my personal opinion is he does not meet the criteria of a top tier (elite) QB. I `m guessing he is high second tier.

Would be interesting to see who makes a move if he is released.

If he is released Mayfield will be in the driver seat to select from potential suitors

Wherever he goes will be a one year contract

He will want to go where he thinks he can be the starter to maximize his next contract

I would doubt he wants to come to Yinzerville for that reason

Q: What's the difference between bums like Mitch Tribumski, Bakers Mayfield, RGIII, Mason Rudolph, Mark Malone, Bubby Bruster, Johnny Manziel, Jr., Randall Cunningham, Chad Pennington, David Klungler, Cliff Stoudt, Deshaun Watson, Korky Stewart, Tommy Maddox, Jason Garrett, Joe Gilliam, Brady Quinn, Brian Sipe, Terry Hanratty, etc...etc...etc....on and on and on???????

    A: NOTHING!

This is turning in to some kind of twilight zone sh!t here...it's like the F.O. and Mike Dumblin are looking for warm bodies at the QB position. This is going to be a real bad football season for my liver, I'm serious!

You know since everyone started making a big deal about the word YINZ about 10-15 years ago, most people in Pittsburgh don't even use that word anymore.
I hate that it is used repeatedly to represent Pittsburgh .

Yinz is mostly used in the rural counties in NW Pennsylvania and mostly with people in their 50's and older. It has mostly died out with the younger people and in the city itself.

That just reminded me of "Pants N' At", that old 'DVE skit. Back in the Paulson & Krenn days. Miss that.

BTW, if anyone knows where to find all those best of the morning show cd's I'd love to find those.

I'm looking at the stats, and I agree with you about Sipe. (Not Bradshaw or Staubach, but not a bum either.)

He played for 10 years. Not many bums will last that long in the NFL.
His career went from 1974-83, so he had the misfortune of playing at a time when the Steelers won 4 SBs and the Raiders 3.
(Brutal for the other teams in the AFC.)
In 1980, the Browns won the division, and only lost to the Raiders in the playoffs by 2. (The Raiders won their other playoff games by 20, 13, and the SB by 17.)

He also played for 4 different head coaches in those 10 years.
Someone who can have a decent level of success with the Browns has to have some talent.

That sounds about right. I never used it. Neither did any of my immediate family, but I have some cousins who still say it.

I would rather steer clear of Mayfield.Too much baggage IMO. But if he make the Steelers a better team and he can act normal then I’ll live with it if he ends up a Steeler.

Perhaps rumor was not the right choice of words. I don’t even think this is is really an opinion, because it is so ridiculous. I think that Mayfield’s agent leaked it to agitate the Browns, because the easiest way to get their goat is to suggest that the Steelers might get some value from a player they would be paying. The “journalists” (these days, anyone with a smart phone and a heartbeat) needed something to post for clickbait that day.

I have forgotten why Haden got the Bum's rush out of Cleveland?

If Cleveland cuts Baker Mayfield right before the season starts, is it comparable to when Cleveland released Haden before the start of the season in 2017?

It was August 30, 2017, when Joe Haden was released by the Cleveland Browns. It was a surprising move as the reasoning behind it was due to the salary cap, although the Browns had $60 million in cap space at the time of Haden's release.Aug 30, 2020

I would take signing Baker Mayfield as a free agent in August for league minimum, over using a 1st round pick on any of the QBs in this years draft.

Mayfield is in the same shape as Jimmy G, they are both injured and can't even throw a football.
