Good Lord, please no. I understand the logic behind it, but that would make me cry.

Not enough time to go outside.. QB needs to know the system go with Charlie then Heath if needed he can serve up some options most likely we will be @ 500 in two weeks sad commentary!

The sad thing is Byron got hurt falling in the end zone on his touchdown run.

I think Charlie should of started that game and the rest of the games. He outplayed Byron during preseason and also since he's been here.

Actually I've been thinking we should have traded Wallace to St.Louis for Bradford.

Leftwich is out injured for awhile

According to CBS sports no surprise there Leftwich injures himself getting out of bed in the morning, a freaking joke. I never seen anybody who never plays always getting hurt get rid of him he's useless. Look for the Steelers to sign some scrub qb this week bring back Jerrod Johnson he knows the offense.

Agree..but Tomless nor any of the staff went to the bench the first time to ask why he's showing signs of pain or ask if hes hurt..Tomless later said that comes from playing the game he's fine! Well coach we are now 6-4

If we have to look outside, what options do we have?

I can think of: S Wallace, JP Losman, T Palko, D Garrard, D Dixon, J Johnson, V Young, Feeley

Steelers QB Byron Leftwich fractured two ribs and is unlikely start vs. Cleveland.

I'm sure there are a number of guys who saw action in the preseason who aren't on a team. That would be where I would look. But a recently retired/retired because they had someone better with starting experience might be best to come in and learn the system. Remember when Miami picked up Steve Deberg and had him start against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving? It snowed in Dallas and Deberg was so busy studying the playbook he had no idea about the weather and didn't have a coat. That was the game that Leon Lett had his infamous play.

I'd say bring back Johnson since he knows the playbook, but he looked too good in preseason that doesn't fit Tomlins train of thought , since he's a F'N idiot. That would be too easy, Mike likes to make things difficult for himself. I want to kick Tomlin in the head, how can somebody be that stupid, he isn't a coach he's an ugly cheerleader.

I'm Available. Don't have any playing experience but if Tomlin couldn't tell that Leftwich was struggling then I doubt I would be pulled even if I happen to throw 6 Interceptions. Besides. I need the money! Just call 1-800-REN-TAQB.

I think it's clear that Batch needs to be the starter. He's the guy who knows the offense and is going to be the most prepared to step in on short notice. Whether his body is up to it may be another matter, but he needs to be the "next man up" and give it his all. As for who to bring in - my #1 choice is Johnson because he knows the offense and his athleticism may throw teams for a loop - especially if he gets put into the game in relief of Batch after an opponent had prepared for Batch's (mostly) in the pocket game. My choice of Johnson is largely based on an expectation that we will have Ben back in 2-3 weeks, so I want the "quickest fix" possible. However, the guy that I would want for the balance of the season is Garrard. People seem to forget that he was a pro bowler 3 years ago, and was OK in 2010. He was not healthy when he tried to win the Miami job, and they (correctly) went with the younger Matt Moore to bring Tannehill along. However, I think Garrard is a better 1-2 year veteran backup option than Leftwich if he's gotten back to health. He's not NFL starter caliber, but neither are any other backups - and certainly none that are on the street. I'd work both guys out immediately.

ESPN reported that Lefty has 2 broken ribs and is out for Sundays game. It appears Batch will be the starter regardless.
